Car description

I have owned this awesome little car for 15 years. I have never driven it in any sort of precipitation, or even through puddles! I keep it in the garage and have two covers for it, plus some repair books, some spare parts, and the original owner's manual, all of which came with it when we got it. I'm not a car person so I will do my best to describe it to you. I can provide you with the mechanic's name and phone number that has worked on it for the last 10 years or so if you are serious about purchasing it. He will tell you that it's a "great car". My husband bought this car for me as a surprise and when we first got it it had a few issues (electrical, I think, but not sure) but since then it has required nothing major, just routine maintenance. Since neither my husband nor I know anything about cars, though, and since it is almost 50 years old, I am selling it as-is (no warranty).
The body and paint are in excellent shape. All of the metal body is original, though it has been repainted and souped up some (front spoiler, wind deflectors on the doors, headlight covers, louvered rear hatch window, chrome dual tail pipes that give the car a slightly "throaty" sound that is really cool) by a previous owner. I think the underside has been undercoated. If you are a car person, you should be able to tell from the photos that I have provided. To my knowledge, there is no putty or rust, and I have never been involved in any accidents, fender-benders, etc. I always park it away from other cars when possible. It has a couple of spots on the edge of the hatch door that have been touched up (see photo) but they aren't very noticeable. There are other tiny paint chips/little scratches that have been touched up. The side mirrors don't stay adjusted all the time, but I just move them back to where I want them as needed. This car won a huge first-place trophy at a car show, and, no, it was not the only entry! :-)
The interior is fabulous, even underneath the red seat covers and red carpet. All of the original interior is intact. The seat covers and red carpet have been in the car since before we purchased it, and I like the way it all looks, so I have left it alone. The seats are red vinyl, and are in great condition. The original carpet is black. The seat covers are hard to get on and off but, again, if you are seriously considering purchasing the car, I will try to get one off so that you can see the seats underneath. The car smells great inside; we don't smoke. The dash board is original (no cracks), and when I drive the car I always keep a silver reflector in the front window. There is a nice snap-on cover in the rear area that matches the seat covers. The windows except for the windshield, have been professionally tinted by the previous owner. There is a Blaupunkt radio with cassette player, and I have 1972 Ohio license plates for the car.
My mechanic says that the motor is original, and the car does have air conditioning, though it has never worked since we have owned it (didn't work when we bought it, and I never needed to use it). There has been some souping up done to some of the parts under the hood - if you are a car person you will probably be able to see what they are. Our mechanic mentioned that it has an electronic choke(?) that is not original. After sitting all winter, it does need some ether sprayed into the carburetor. On a day-to-day basis, I have no problem starting it, though it does need to warm up for about 5-7 minutes before initially driving off or it will stall. I have always added a lead additive to the gas that I put into the car. You can see a black rubber patch on the underside of the hood - that was from an issue that the car had the first year we owned it but has not been a problem since we had the car fixed. The front tires are brand-new last year and the car has no wobbliness in the steering wheel at all.
I want the winning bidder to be delighted with this car! So please contact me through eBay if you would like to see additional photos, have questions that I have not addressed, would like to test drive this car, or need to inquire about how to arrange shipping. Shipping is at your expense and a deposit is required if you are the winning bidder. Thanks for your interest!
