1974 Datsun 260Z
I purchased this car from the original owner in the fall of 2016 and planned to build a full resto-mod car with it, but unfortunately realized I do not have the time to put into this car that it deserves. I hate to see it go, but would rather it go to a good home where it will get fixed up and driven. Since I got it, it has just sat in my garage. The owner said the car had sat for 15 years indoors prior to me buying it, but it did run before it was placed into storage. The car does not have a battery, however I hooked jumper cables up to this car and the electrical all seemed to work ok. Even the clock started to tick, which is one thing that always fails on these cars. I did not get the car to run, however it does turn over nicely, and will fire and start on starting fluid, but will not maintain idle for more than a few seconds. Most likely the carburetors just need to be cleaned and sorted out. This car is all original, and everything appears to be in place as it was intended. This car even has the OEM installed air conditioning and the OEM installed cruise control option. The car comes with most of the origional paper work in the glove box, including the paperwork on the installed cruise. This would be a great candidate for a restoration as it has all the hard to find pieces still attached.
This car is in overall good shape considering the condition of many Datsun Z cars out there today. This car does have some minor rust in the corners of some panels, but nothing seems to be rusted through. There is a patch of rust in the drivers front wheel well, and the drivers floor pan has some rust, but again there are no holes anywhere. This car does not seem to have any of the rust found on these cars in the battery tray area, firewall, front frame rails and around the shock towers up front. The car will come with the factory option Craiger wheels as well as the original steel wheels with the original Pirelli tires, however I only have one hub cap. There are some other random parts the previous owner left which will also go along with the sale. Since the car sat for so long, when I took delivery the previous owner had to remove the rear brake shoes as they were dragging, so the rear breaks will also need to be gone through and rebuilt. The interior is in overall good condition as well, with only minor issues like a tear in the drivers seat and the common dash cracking. I think overall you will not be disappointed in this car.
If you have any additional questions let me know and I will be happy to answer them.
The buyer will need to bring a trailer or arrange shipping. I will be happy to work with and meet the shipper on my end, but the arrangements and payment will be made by the buyer.
