Car description

I have received an offer of $2,100 for this car and to make my life easier I am going to take it if the car hasn't sold by the end of the weekend on EBay. So if you are watching and thinking about making an offer, now is the time. When the ad expires, it will not be relisted. The offer would need to be better than $2,100 and not just $2,200. After fees that would basically be the same thing. Hope to see a winner!

Up for sale is my super-cool, manual shift, 1983 Datsun (Nissan) 280ZX 2+2. It has a complete title and current registration and is ready to go! I have really enjoyed this car and I’ll be totally uncool without it but circumstances require I part with it. The car is in the Minneapolis area and I can meet to show it and test drive. If you need the car shipped, I can meet the truck and help get it loaded but you will have to arrange shipping yourself. It’s just not a process I’m familiar with.

The car is black with a tan interior that I was converting to black. Some interior pieces have already been replaced and I have more that will come with the car. The car starts and runs very well and has a “very healthy engine” according to a vintage car guy who checked it out for me recently. The great thing about it is that, ESPECIALLY for a car that has been in Minnesota for a while, it is NOT a rust bucket. When I first got it less than a year ago, my mechanic put it up on the rack to check things out and told me that the underside looked like it was about a five year old car. There is superficial rust of course but NOTHING destabilizing. There are a few small rust issues that I will get to. The guy I bought it from had it garaged for ten years but started it regularly. When I purchased it, I drove it away with no problem. It has never failed me. Here are the details:

VIN: JN1HZ06S8DX507536

Original miles: 82,116

Model: 280ZX 2+2 (Has a small back seat)

Car comes with:

  • Newly restored black dashboard, ready to install (these are typically $1,000 to $1,500 alone. Plus you can sell the old cracked dash to someone who does restoration)

  • Black end vents for the dash area

  • Black bezels (trim) for the speedometer area and three center gauges

  • Black glove compartment door

  • Black steering column shroud

  • Black wheel well/strut tower covers (also very expensive pieces)

  • Black caps for strut towers

  • Chrome replacement trim for T-top (one piece is rusted and needs replacement for sure)

  • Black carpet for cargo area

  • Black louvres for rear window (unfortunately it’s a plastic one and has a few breaks)

  • Water repellant car cover

  • Custom-fit sunshade

  • All original tan pieces that have been replaced

In the last year the car has had:

  • Clutch master cylinder, slave and hoses replaced

  • Complete fluid flush and replacement (all fluids)

  • All brake hoses replaced

  • Fuel hoses replaced

  • Inner right tie rod, both outer tie rods and steering rack boots replaced

  • Thrust arm bushings and lower ball joints replaced

  • Steering rack replaced with rebuilt rack from Z Source

  • Distributor replaced

  • Tune up with new distributor cap and rotor, spark plugs and wires, and air filter

  • Muffler replaced

  • Water pump replaced

  • Coolant hose and belts replaced

  • Valve adjustment

  • Fuel injection service (injectors removed and cleaned)

  • Alignment

  • New black carpet installed

Car needs:

  • Valve seals most likely need to be replaced (compression test was done – all cylinders were at 120. Engine is solid and diagnosis was valve seals)

  • Rusted dent should be repaired (shown in pictures)

  • Windshield should be popped and rust dealt with around windshield

  • New dash and other interior parts and cargo carpet need to be installed

  • Might be time for tires though I’ve had no issues

  • Heat is AMAZING but the AC is non-operational. Theparts need to be updated since it would still need the old Freon which is now illegal. I do not know if the compressor works or not. It does blow cool air just not cold. Quote I got for repair was $300 so it can't be TOO bad.

Please contact me with any questions or to set up a time to see her. Thanks!
