Datsun 510 1970 Rolling Shell. Very clean and complete.

Most folks will probably think I am crazy for trying to sell a rolling shell on ebay however if you have ever tried to find a clean. straight. matching body panel. practically rust free unmolested original 510 then look no further. Up for auction is a 1970 Datsun 510 rolling shell. I spent 3 years trying to find a clean. straight Datsun 510 to restore. Mechanicals were less important to me as the cost of restoration for these older steel bodied 510’s emanates from body work. rust repair and panel fit. Starting with a good shell is the best route to an sound. affordable restoration. This vehicle is PL510162765 and lived in Yuba City. CA for most of its life. It was last titled and on the road in 1984 and is a two owner car. It is currently stored in a dry fully enclosed garage. This shell is an excellent restoration candidate. The doors open and close beautifully. have correct gaps and the hinges have absolutely no sagging (see video). All of the primary body panels are original (doors. hood. trunk). The vehicle was never in any accidents so the quarter panels. rear trunk. front fenders and the front radiator support section are all perfect and absolutely straight. The floor pans. sill beams (horizontal beams which run wheel-to-wheel) are in excellent rust-free condition (see photos). The engine bay is also in great condition and the battery tray has no rust or corrosion. The doors have no speaker cut-outs and the rear package tray is also completely intact and is not cut up. The roof also has no rust and both the trunk and hood are perfectly straight. All bumper mounts are intact as well. The suspension is also very clean and straight. The only known area of rust is in the trunk. It contains several pin-holes which can be cut out however I am including an original rust-free pan with the auction (see photo) since this is the best way to perform a proper trouble-free restoration. I am also including a set of very clean. original front and rear seats. The seats. seat springs and seat rails are in excellent condition. I was also able so source a very clean wiring loom for an L-series engine since I had planned to run a 2. 3 liter L-series Robello engine.
