Car description

Detailed description. Please read description thoroughly. For Auction is this very clean LOW MILEAGE 1983 Datsun 280zx in excellent mechanical and physical condition with a LOW starting price which is much less than comparable Z's are selling for here and NO RESERVE! so you can't go wrong with this steal! 86,000 plus miles. This car screams early 1980's sports car status. I am selling this one for a friend of mine who found out after acquiring his "new toy" that he is gonna' be a papa so alas, a 4 door is in his future and he is willing to sacrifice this "dream" car for now.
I still remember the first ride I took in it that brought back childhood memories (my Mom bought a brand new yellow one in either '82 or '83) This one is in very good shape even considering it's age. It has normal scratches to the body which can be expected from a 1983 automobile that was a driver and not destined to sit covered in a barn at someones uncle's house (see Rush, the band, ala Red Barchetta).
The fact that this is my friends car means that I don't know every detail about the thing. However, I have been there from day one when he traded for it and his excitement could not easily be disguised that day at work before he got the call that the car was on it's way. Needless to say, he became sick (*cough, *cough) shortly thereafter so we let him go home. (Not sure we could have stopped him.) The point is this: I have seen this guy do some incredible things with vehicles far less than this. In fact, there was really nothing mechanically wrong with the vehicle when he got it, other than the fact that it was in desperate need of some T.L.C. which, I can assure you, it received and then some. Every part that has anything to do with a tuneup has been replaced, as well as the fluids drained and refilled, filters wires, cables, nuts, bolts, etc. I have a video of this thing in action which also has him explaining some of what was done to get her in great running condition. And, she looks pretty darn good too judging from all of the females who are walking and gawking. (That was a joke Cassie) I will attempt to post a clip here or at least a link later as I am sure there will be revisions and additions coming up:
I now have a few more details from the owner himself that may be of interest, more specifics of what he has actually done to the vehicle and I am sure this is a short list. I know he was working on it just about every night and then had to come to work next day with, I'm sure, visions of Datsun Logos dancing in his head.
THE GIST: First of all, this car was an everyday driver, more specifically, at least 35-75 miles a day for about the last 3 months since he acquired it and made sure it was mechanically sound. Since that time, he has:
UNDER THE HOOD: Replaced/installed and/or upgraded... Distributor Cap and Rotor, Spark Plugs and Wires, All 3 belts, Oil, Air and Fuel Filter, New Vacuum lines, traced and replaced burned/shorted wiring and fuseable links where needed.
The Radiator has been flushed and filled with proper winter mix of 50/50.
UNDER THE CAR: The fuel tank has been dropped and professionally cleaned and reinstalled.
GLASS: All glass is good with NO cracks or chips! Power Mirrors, power windows and mirror defroster all operate smoothly and are fully functional.
IN GENERAL: All electronic parts have been thoroughly cleaned with electronic parts spray cleaner followed by application of corrosion protection coating.
INTERIOR: Every interior piece has been removed, cleaned, buffed, and reinstalled. Power locks are fully functional. The radio works but has some tuning issues. The tape player, which is really cool and was I imagine state of the art Dolby gear at the time, works and has 3 way speaker switch also, kind of revolutionary for the decade I would imagine. Hatchback has rear wiper which works. Front wipers: Check. Horn, interior lights, headlights and tail, markers, turn signals, all fully functional!
Take a Break! Watch... In all seriousness. These Datsuns have become quite the collectors piece from many moons ago yet it is really no surprise that there are some still out there, based on how well this one ran without doing anything to it despite being necessary to how well it runs now with a little Lovin'. Again, If you have questions, please feel free to ask by messaging me here and I will do my best to answer as accurately as possible. Any original parts removed for detail work, upgrades, or repairs have been retained and will accompany the vehicle upon purchase.
