Up for sale here is a good condition 1994 Daihatsu Hijet 'kei' mini truck. This little truck was imported in 2015, and comes with the paperwork get it titled/registered in the US. Many states allow these trucks to be registered once they become antiques (25 years old), which happens to be next year for this one. As a 1994 model, it is already exempt from US emissions standards (which occurs at 21 years old). Please check with your state or municipality for further registration details. I live in Virginia, and it could be registered here as antique once it turns 25 years old.
This S83P Hijet has a 660 cc, 3 cylinder gas motor with a 4-speed manual transmission and it is 4 wheel drive (4wd). It also has the air conditioning unit add-on. It runs very good. This truck is more of a workhorse than a show piece. Also, while the Hijet is great around town - it definitely isn't a US highway vehicle. You wouldn't really want to go much faster than 50-55 mph in mini trucks. Please carefully look at the pictures to get sense for the minor dents, dings, and scratches. Appears to have typical wear/tear for a vehicle this old.
This truck just had a great deal of maintenance done, which means she's ready to go:
- New water pump- New thermostat- New coolant, and flushed system- Inspected and re-tensioned the timing belt / timing belt tensioner- Inspected v accessory belts- Fresh oil change and US oil filter- Inspected air filter
Here are three videos of the truck running and driving: https://youtu.be/3Y6nJlpAsE, https://youtu.be/7oEprIwP-s, https://youtu.be/oh93DlM9plc .
The only thing you will want to keep an eye on with this Hijet is the tires. 3 of the 4 have very good tread (good for off-road, farm use), but all 4 have some dry-rot. All the tires are ok for off-road use, but if you're putting it on the road consistently at speed, then I recommend you replace the tires. That size runs for about $40-50 each.
Please contact Steve with any questions, or if you want to setup an appointment to test drive it. If you want/need additional pics, just let me know. I'm also happy to send pics of the Japanese title and import paperwork. Truck comes with this paperwork and a service manual. The Japanese VIN # is S83P-140223.
Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. I will assist your shipping company, as needed. For shipping, u-ship.com and veritread.com seem to be a good deal for most folks.
Payment: $500 nonrefundable deposit due via Paypal within 24 hours of auction end. Full cash payment due at pickup or full payment via Paypal if you're having it shipping. Obviously, the full payment must clear before the vehicle will be shipped.
