1965 Pontiac Catalina Safari Station Wagon with 47k miles. This car was sold new at Barbarino Pontiac in Wallingford. CT. The car was traded back into the same dealership in the early 1980's. The dealership owner put the car in storage. (he did this with several mid '60's Pontiac's his dealership took in on trade back then). The car had one respray back in the '80's. other than that the car is completely original. It runs and drives excellent. As for options. the car has Power Drum Brakes. Power Steering. Power Rear Tailgate Window. 3rd Row Seat. The following work has been done within the last 500 miles:New Drum Brakes on all four wheelsNew Front End Companents. Ball Joints. Springs. End Links. etcNew Heavy Duty Front and Rear Sway BarsNew Steering BoxNew 4 Core RadiatorNew Rear SpringsNew Dual ExhaustThe car runs and drives excellent. The front end is tight and quiet. the brakes don't pull at all. The exhaust system has a nice tone. but it is very quiet and would not offend anyone riding in the car. The original 389 v8 runs excellent and starts right up whether it's warm or cold outside. The '65 was the first year for the Turbo 400. 3 Speed Automatic transmission. The underside of the car is completely rust free. The floors. the spare tire well. the rockers. and most importantly. the frame is all completely solid and unrestored. Most of the underside still has the original undercoating intact. There are a few areas of the frame where the undercoating has begun to peel off. but the frame underneath is rot free and bone dry. The car has the original AM Radio. however it was converted to FM Stereo. (for $500). The interior is all original and complete. however it could use a little tlc. The material that the factory used for the seat cover inserts is beginning to break down a bit. and there are a few stains in those parts of the seats. (mostly in the front seat). The typical thick vinyl material they used for the rest of the seat cover is in excellent shape. The 3rd row seat is perfect. The carpet is intact. but faded. It has the old school clear plastic full floor mats as well that cover the entire floor. going over the transmission hump. The door panels are in good shape. The headliner has let go along a couple of the sewn seams. Basically the car is perfectly usable as is. the only issue's with the interior are cosmetic. The body is incredibly solid and very straight. The gold paint shines very nice and has only a few chips and imperfections. which would be expected from a 40 year old respray. There are no dents in the car. The only rust is along the very bottom edge of the driver's side rear quarter panel. behind the rear wheel well. The rust is only on the bottom of edge. the inside of the quarter is perfect. The only other area where some first time rust is starting to pop up is the lower front fenders. behind the front wheel opening. The stainless trim is all complete and in very nice condition. The bumpers are straight and rust free. however the chrome has faded in some areas. The rear bumper has both of the factory rubber coated steps intact. just above each reverse light. Basically this car is a really cool turn key driver. You can just get in it and go. Just a point of clarification. This car is being sold with a CT Dept of Motor Vehicles Bill of Sale Form. along with a previous CT Reg Certificate. These two forms show continuation of ownership. The State of CT does not and will not issue any vehicle titles for any car with a model year of 1994 or older. I want to be sure this is clear up front so there are no issue's after the sale. The bottom line is the CT paperwork is acceptable in any other of the 49 states. I've sold cars to New Jersey. Massachusetts. New York. etc. Those states 'require' titles. however that means that if the state you purchased the car in does not issue titles. then your state will just issue you a new one when you register the car. If you have any doubt as to what the CT DMV rules are. I cut and pasted the info below directly from the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles web site: http://www. ct. gov/dmv/cwp/view. asp?a=816&q=244698 When a Title Is Not Needed According to Connecticut State Law Title 14 Sec. 14-166 exempted vehicles: the acquisition of a certificate of title shall not be required for the following: The acquisition of a certificate of title for over 20 model years old is not required. Please contact the DMV's Title Division with any questions at 860-263-5710. In any case. thanks for looking and checking out my auction. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me. I have many more pictures that would fit into this ad.
