This 1937 Cord 812 Supercharged Custom Beverly is Auburn Cord Duesenberg club category 1 Certified, it is listed in Josh Malks definitive book "Cord Complete", and it has great California History! Offered by The Vault Classic Cars dealership, Fullerton, California. 714-401-1047 . This is the ultimate Cord Sedan - factory supercharged, with those great external pipes, and the rare Custom Beverly body, which had a longer wheelbase and more room for the rear seat passengers. . When the Cord was introduced at the 1935 Auto show, people stood 10 deep to get a look at it, they stood on the running boards and bumpers of the nearby cars just to see it! It was absolutely revolutionary when new in styling and in advanced mechanical features. Front wheel drive! Retractable headlights! Supercharger with external pipes! . This car is nice and straight, and looks spectacular in black! . What a profile! Front wheel drive allowed the car to be much lower than anything else on the road - no driveshaft! no big bulky rear axle! . Absolutely amazing to look at even 80 years later! . Wow! . The icing on the cake - PIPES! that tells the world there's a supercharger under the hood - and as the famous Cord advertisment said, "any driver that passes the Supercharged Cord knows he does so only with the Cord driver's permission". . Wow! . Any way you look at it, the pipes are great! . The plating and trim on this car are excellent! . Nice! Although the paint job is older, it still looks good, but with a few flaws now. . That dashboard! a fully instrumented feast for the eyes! Cord called it "Aircraft inspired". . Temperature, Speedometer, tachometer, oil pressure, clock, radio, gas/oil level, and amp meter. The car tells you what is going on ! Another great detail - the shape of the rear view mirror matches the outline of the rear window! . in case the gauges weren't enough, the dashboard face is engine turned for that extra bit of flash! . Beautiful! . The interior was done in leather some time ago. . Here is the spacious rear compartment with folding arm rest. . Even the doorhandles and window cranks had a unique, streamlined look. . The heart of the beast, a flathead V-8 engine, supercharged, with 288 Cubic inches and 170 factory horsepower! Even today, the Cord feels powerful and fast. This engine has the Bohnalite aluminum heads, and of course the supercharger. The open element air cleaner was a supercharged car feature. . FC2752, the engine number, tells us that it was a factory supercharged engine, the "FC" is the proper supercharged prefix. Although this engine isn't the original one for the car, the ACD club knows this car to be a supercharged car from new, and the engine replacement is fully acceptable, so that it can have an ACD Category 1 certification. . The transmission was recently rebuilt, and it works beautifully - engages every gear easily and quietly! . And the engine runs great, too - nice and quiet, excellent oil pressure, and good power. . Here's the transmission cover, with the Cord Crest emblem. The transmission on this car is especially nice, it was rebuilt by Warren Record, and he definitely knows what he's doing! . Here are the headlights cranked up. Each headlight has a crank on the dash. These are sealed beam lenses. . Nicely finished trunk with wool carpeting. . Spare tire. . A great car! . Spectacular!
