Car description |
---|
Stunning 1936 Cord in a classic color combination. One of the classics of American car design from the 30's .
The 1936 Cord was an example of cutting edge technology. The car is a unit body, Had concealed headlights, no running boards and integrated tail lights. The engine is an aluminum flat head V8 by Lycoming. 289 c.i.d 125 HP. It is mounted in reverse in the car driving the front wheels via a 4 speed transmission mounted in front of the wheels. I has a vacuum gear preselector. This is controlled by the small shift switch on the steering column. The front suspension is transverse leaf like the current corvette. The front subframe may be removed and the wiring disconnect by a central connector at the firewall.
A very good example of this model. Have had the honor of owning this vehicle for over 15 years. The car was purchased from the previous owner in Indianapolis. Selling due to change in interests. The car has only been shown in local car shows and driven sparingly. Serial number 1793A Engine number FB1979 The restoration was done over 40 years ago and is starting to show age. Paint is still shiny with no areas of discoloration, there is some cracking at some body seams visible on close examination., Chrome other than the passenger front windshield surround is perfect. Visible on close examination. Interior is excellent. Car runs wel, shifts appropriately, Have driven in Atlanta traffic with no issues. Has not overheated. The only issue is the startix does not engage when releasing the clutc, but requires manual activation. After that car continues to run flawlessly. Known issues to have a perfect vehicle are listed above. If you have any questions please send a message.
The car is sold as is. It is located south of Atlanta and may be inspected locally.
