PRO's: - rare ID21F safari station wagon - sought-after single headlight front end - original California 'black plate' wagon - spent most of its driving life in California and southern Washington State where no salt was used on the roads - metal under rear side windows solid - very complete / great restoration candidate - clear Washington State title CON's - front wheels don't spin I'm assuming due to the brake pads stuck to the discs after sitting for 35'ish years - typical rust in the front floors - rust in the panels below the rear trailing arms. Looks to be due to a huge mouse house in that cavity. Vertical metal on the sides looks solid to me. This is a pretty solid, very complete, very rare 1966 Citroen ID 21F station wagon. I have had Citroens for 45 years and have a collection comprising most of the historic models. A friend told me about a Citroen that had been sitting in a barn in southern Washington State for decades. I went to see it, met its wonderful (and elderly) owners, and eventually bought it. I did as best an evaluation for rust as I could given it was only a few inches off the ground: all indications looked really good, especially the area under the rear side windows which are ALWAYS rusted through: These are solid on both sides. The front wheels were stuck, I assume the brake pads have stuck to their discs. It was difficult to get it on the trailer (to say the least) but we were successful and now put dollies on it to move it about the shop. I have tried to 'unstick' them but have decided to leave it to the next owner as they will need to take the drivetrain completely apart in any case to restore it. I trailered it to my private shop in Kirkland where I put it on a lift to see how solid it really was. The most concerning place for rust in a D model is where the rear trailing arms attach to the frame and, given this car seemed so sound I was surprised to see that the horizontal panel below where the arms attach to the frame was rusted out--then I noticed the huge 'mouse house' full of ripped up paper. I believe that over the 3-4 decades that mouse waste actually rusted the lower panel away as where the arms actually connect to the frame seems solid with factory paint.
