Car description

Up for auction is our 1959 Chrysler 300E Convertible "Big Red". This is one of the rarest of the letter car convertibles around and is equipped with the rare factory cruise control option. I don't know if this is a matching numbers car but I do believe that the transmission was rebuilt at some point. I have had this car for 2 years now and have been slowly bringing it back to life after a 20 year rest in a barn in Oklahoma. The car was purchased by the man in Oklahoma in 1982 and driven to its new home from Colorado Springs. While there the car was always kept indoors out of the elements. Since owning this car I have always kept it inside as well. Here are a few more details:

Mechanical:

  • New Brake Master Cylinder

  • New Wheel Cylinders All 4 Wheels

  • New Brake Shoes All 4 Wheels

  • New Passenger Side Front Control Arm Bushings

  • New BF Goodrich 2.75" Wide White Wall Tires

  • New Battery

  • New Gas Tank

  • New Gas Tank Sending Unit

  • New Fuel Pump

  • New Points

  • New Spark Plugs

  • Rebuilt Radiator - New Core

  • Minor leaks for oil power steering transmission

  • Motor runs solid

  • Transmission shifts fine

  • Car runs and drives fine. I have taken a couple short road trips in it around the DFW area with no issues.

Body/Frame:

  • The car was re-painted at some point. I don't know what the original paint color was but from what I can tell the original color was red as well.

  • There is no through rust on the body or frame anywhere. Please see pics of under the car.

Cosmetics:

  • This is not a show car it's a good driver.

  • As mentioned above the car was probably repainted sometime before its journey to Oklahoma and therefore has chips and wear accordingly.

  • There is one ding in the passenger side door caused by another car it was parked next to.

  • The chrome is in fair shape and has a few dings in the bumpers.

  • The interior is in decent shape but needs new seat foam on the driver and passenger side front seat bottoms.

  • The top is in ok shape.

  • The 300 symbol on the trunk did not come with the car and one of the 0's and the E is missing on the side logos. Other than that it's all there.

Inspection:

  • Please review the pics carefully before bidding and only bid if you intend to buy.

  • If you would like to inspect the car please let me know and we will coordinate something.

I do have a clear title on this car and to my knowledge it has never been wrecked.

I have done my best to accurately describe this car but please feel free to email me with any questions and I will do my best to respond as quickly as possible. Note: I reserve the right to end this auction at any time.

Deposit: If the auction goes above the reserve a deposit of $1000 by PayPal is due within 48 hours after the end of the auction.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look. -Scott
