All vehicle trades considered, including classics and performance. I can assist with financing and transport as needed.
One owner and 9,500 miles. That is all this 1983 Chrysler New Yorker Fifth Avenue Edition has seen in its lifetime – truly amazing! This beautiful car represents top-of-the-line luxury from its day with a style and substance that hasn’t been seen since. It was a passenger car that held onto the rear wheel drive platform and V8 power, while offering the unforgettable rich Corinthian leather interior with long-pile plush carpeting. Remember those days?
This car was purchased new on March 30, 1983 from Emil Ewald’s Mayfair Chrysler/Plymouth in Milwaukee with 11 miles on the odometer. The total price was $14,368 – a healthy sum when most new vehicles were less than $10,000. The car received Ziebart rustproofing as well. It then stayed with the same owner all these years and is still on its original title from 1983. The car’s condition is commensurate with the amazing mileage. The Silver Crystal Coat paint and padded vinyl landau roof are original and in mint condition; you would never guess they are 37 years old! The same is true of all the chrome and brightwork. And the gorgeous wire wheel covers with whitewall tires make for a very handsome ride.
In 1983 the New Yorker had moved to a front wheel drive K-car platform with a 4-cylinder engine making 94hp. Ugh. However, the Fifth Avenue Edition would have none of this. It continued on the rear wheel drive M-body platform with Mopar’s well-regarded 318ci V8 and 727 Torqueflite automatic transmission. Everything is in good mechanical condition, though the engine can have a rough idle when cold and the tires have flat spots from sitting. Also there are new brake calipers in front, as age and lack of use caused the originals to stick.
The interior is really the star of the show starting with the the luxurious leather seats. They show like new and are as comfortable as they look. The carpeting and matching floor mats are also in amazing condition and are a style you don’t often see. The dash is clean and orderly with an attractive woodgrain instrument panel. And even though this car is almost 40 years old, everything works! Power windows, power seat, radio, power antenna, horn, wipers, cruise control, lights, parking brake, clock, gauges, and more. Even the air conditioning works!
This elegant Chrysler is truly a time capsule. Again, one owner and 9,500 miles. It also includes the original purchase contract, owner’s manual, and related paperwork. If you’re ready to go back to 1983 then this car will take you there.
