Car description |
---|
This is a restored 1961 Chrysler Newport with factory A/C. Pretty much all chrome was redone, new paint, new interior, new carpet, rebuilt carb, new battery and new tires. It has power steering and brakes, radio, a rebuilt electroluminescent transformer, and the list goes on.
Rides and drives like new. Car doesn't hesitate or smoke. Floats down the freeway effortlessly at 75 MPH. Dash pad is new with no cracks. I did not put the mirror back as this was the major cause of cracking dashes, but I do have it, and it's been rechromed as well. The previous owner had a stereo in the car, so the original radio was disconnected, but he said it works fine.
It has the clear plastic steering wheel, and the plastic needs to be refinished, hence the leather wrapping on the wheel. Dash lights work and gauges work. The needles do not light up on 3 of the 4, common issue, and I have a source in Washington that can rebuild the whole gauge package for about $200.
The front passenger window slipped from the track and will need to be repaired, again very minor issue. The clock even works, as long as you drive the car fairly regularly. Floors are in pristine condition, no patches or rust. The trunk did have a patch, and was coated with Por-15. It's solid as a rock.
The car was bought new in California, sold to a collector many years later, then purchased by a private owner after that. Ironically, the 3rd owner live about 1 block away from the original owner - but this was about 40 years later. There's tons of documentation with the car, the original owner's manual which has never been unwrapped and it appears that the original aluminum keys have never been used.
Overall this is a great ride that gets attention where ever it goes. No disappointments.
Funds must clear my bank before the car is released. I do not need help selling, so please do not contact me. If you need any other info, give me call at 702-292-1201. Will help with shipping arrangements anywhere in the world. Thanks for looking!
