Car description |
---|
First thing first - you will not find another Laser for sale, publically, anywhere in the country with as low of miles and in as good of condition as this one. In this condition they sell anywhere from $4,000 up to $15,000 (Bring A Trailer, SoTheBy's auction, and a dealer in Michigan - respectively).
If you let this walk away from you, you will surely regret it. They simply do not come up often! I foresee no reason why you cannot fly here and drive the car back home; however, you should have an understanding of technical and mechanical knowledge. Also, this is a 35 year old car so I would anticipate something going wrong; HOWEVER, it was purchased from Oregon and drive back to Central California without any issues. So...there is that! I just don't want you to get half way across the country and complain that it broke down for some obscure reason.
1984 Chrysler Laser XE (Turbo)Clean title (in my name)
37,9xx miles5 speed manual transmission (no shifting issues)Accident free history (per CarFax)Optioned out from dealer: power driver seat, power windows, power mirrors, rear windshield wiper, air conditioning (blows cold), heater (blows hot), cigarette lighter still works, everything works as expected.
A few "negative" things about the car:

A few "negative" things about the car:
- has a small dent on the front part of the hood
- has a few small grocery cart dings (2-3, hard to spot)
- rear passenger side bumper has a dent isolated to the lower bumper - parking lot bump (heat and pop back out)
- rear windshield wiper grommet included (needs to be put on - I've been lazy)
- has short on a ground which causes a bump in RPMs if you put an electrical load on the car (need to trace the grounds on the car - all under the hood, so while not atrocious it's still a PITA)
- some of the buttons can be sticky (radio, etc)
- short lived squeal on start up (the belts need adjusting - they are new)
A few "positive" things about the car:
- those 37 something thousand miles are all original
- original window sticker and associated purchase documentation
- the paint is in pretty good condition
- the interior is in extremely good condition (new headliner to make it mint)
- it's original everything - never modified in any way
- turbo spools fine
- mechanically the car is perfect as far as I can tell
- new brakes, relatively new tires (need rotated)
- new liner for hood (although the original is fine)
- new car cover (should you not garage it)
- no noticeable leaks from oil, gas, etc (I park it in the same spot and neve saw drippage)
- car was serviced within the last 500 miles
- One set of keys (primary and auxiliary key)
- 1984 service manual: Chassis, body (from Chrysler dealership, service department)
- 1984 service manual: Electrical & engine performance (from Chrysler dealership, service department)
- Haynes automotive repair manual
- BUNCH of marketing material for the Chrysler Laser from the mid 80's
