1970 CHRYSLER NEWPORT CORDOBA
FOUR DOOR HARDTOP
HISTORY
The all new for 1969 Fuselage styling was a huge hit with the public. There were minor trim changes and mechanical improvements for the 1970 model year. The Cordoba name was used in the spring of 1970 on a special trim package version of a Chrysler Newport hardtop (two-door and four-door).[1] This full-size model was a "limited edition luxury car, designed to introduce you to Chrysler" and consisted of an exclusive "Cordoba Gold" paint with matching wheels, wheel covers, and side molding with vinyl inserts.[1] Chrysler described this model's textured antique gold all-vinyl interior, matching vinyl roof cover, and the hood ornament with an Aztec eagle as "quiet Spanish motif".[1] Included in the $4,241.65 price was the 383cuin (6.3L) 290bhp (220kW) two-barrel carburetor V8 engine, automatic transmission, power steering, H78x15 fiberglass-belted whitewall tires, and a "golden tone" AM radio.[1] . Chrysler only produced 1,873 of the 1970 Newport Cordoba four-door hardtops. Very few have survived!
The 1970 Chrysler Newport Cordoba featured in this auction was originally purchased near Cleveland, Ohio. This car was never driven in the winter and is completely rustfree! I purchased it from the heirs of the original owners in 2003.This Newport Cordoba was featured in the Collector Buyer’s Guide of the Hemmings Classic Car issue of April, 2010. It was also photographed and included in Collectible Automobile’s October 2012 issue, Aerial Maneuvers: The Story of the1969-73 “Fuselage-Body” Chryslers. It was also pictured in Collectible Automobile’s December 2014 issue, Practical Extravagance: A History of the Four-Door Hardtop.
It was accepted and shown at the 2016 Keeneland Concours. Most of the cars accepted for these Concours shows are over restored examples. Chrysler was the featured marque there that year.

CONDITION
This has to be one of the finest original 70 Newport Cordobas on the planet. The current mileage is 93,360. It has always been garaged. The original vinyl top is nice! The original interior and trunk are in beautiful original condition. The exterior chrome, diecast, emblems and Cordoba specific trim is excellent. There is a NOS piece of side trim that is included. The car is mostly original paint. The front fender upper panels were refinished before my purchase. There are minuscule paint defects, but overall it is Very Nice! It is equipped with the 383 engine and Torqueflite Automatic Transmission, Power Steering and Power Brakes, Auto Temp Air conditioning. The heat, defrost and Air Conditioning function perfectly. The air is Ice Cold. There is an AM Radio. There is a nice new Matched set of five Whitewall Radial tires in 235x75R15. Everything on the car functions perfectly. We have recently been parking this car in the shop with a painted floor. There has not been a single spot on the floor under this car. The body is totally rust free. The car runs and drives beautifully. Drive anywhere at High Speed in comfort! We drove the Cordoba about 200 miles round trip to a Mopar meet last Sunday. It is whisper quiet and smooth with nice Cold Auto Temp Air! It is Titled, licensed and insured in my name in Indiana.
