Car description |

First time ever advertised...I have had this car for over 15 years, always been inside, and I have done a TON of work to it. It's almost done...and I have run out of steam. The old Washington plate is still on the car..last licensed in 1967.1953 Desoto "Fire Dome" Hemi v-8, all professionally rebuilt(with receipts) by Richard Tabor's Automotive Machine shop, Vancouver,Wa. Richard build race motors for many of the local drag racers and is a Hemi expert. The motor has been shop run and the cam has been broken in correctly. mated to a Mopar 4-speed trans. Motor mounts and trans mounts all fabricated. Engine bay sheet metal work all done to look stock..excellent workmanship to squeeze that v-8 in where a flathead 6 resided. Brake shoes and wheel cylinders all new. Brand new Coker tires all the way around and original hubcaps with new trim rings. The original wiring is in very decent shape..engine needs to be added in. These cars had Auger screw-type convertible top motors..not hydraulic like most...trouble free and they work. Was a much better idea in my opinion. The top frame is reconditioned and a newEZ black top is included..still in the box.All the upholstery is done in the exact match to the original highlander plaid..except the burgundy on the seat is Leather and not vinyl. Carpet is new. This car is super solid..minor welding underneath in a couple spots as pictured in photo. Trunk, sills and body panels super solid.Original Paint car with nice patina..maybe wet sand it and clearcoat if you want that unrestored original look or just polish it. I have not taken chrome polish or paint polish to this car yet. It will come alive. It needs a driveshaft and to figure out the clutch and transmission shift linkage. whether it be a floor shift or keep the column shift. may old-timers, used the "H" pattern on the column for the forward 4 gears and then added an overdrive cable to access reverse. That's the way I was headed.I have a vintage 60's WEIAND aluminum intake and 4 Stromberg "97's" for this car.It is complete with original linkage. The 2 barrel was just to run the new motor and get all sorted out. see last 2 photos. The rear body shot is when I bought the car out of dry storage almost 2 decades ago. I also have a new aluminum radiator..plus many other parts..another complete dash, bumpers, fenders and hood from a parts car if the new owner would want them. I purchased parts car it just to get the left hand cast front top spear from grille around fender. It is rechromed along with the hood bird center ornament. all the rest is original brightwork. This car does not need much to finish and to enjoy. All the hard work is done. Be a great Father Son project. Very cool car for you Mopar lovers of the Art Deco design age. Please call Jay for more information. 360-852-0589buy with confidence...I'm 100% since 1999
