Please read entire description!
1962 Imperial Crown convertible. Rare car. First off, the car is NOT with me, it is stored in Mojave, CA, the driest spot I could find for it. I bought the car for the top assembly, to use on my '61 convertible, and had it shipped to a friend of mine. I planned on restoring the car after I did my 61 however I have way too many cars and will never get to this. This is a big project or good for parts. The dash and the trim is worth the BIN NOTE on PICS: The first couple pics were taken a few weeks ago where the car is stored, this is how the car looks now (the junk inside it is not included) The others are from last year before my friend removed the top assembly (no top assembly included with the car!). Also both doors were switched out from the ones on my 61. The DR side one is no good, pass. is ok. Those were the ONLY parts removed after I bought it the car, it is otherwise the same as when I got it. The last 8 pics are from when I bought it. (3 years ago). Yes, it was in a field. Since I am 2000 miles away depend on friends to get the pics I have.
Car was triple black originally. The car is incomplete, obviously. It has no seats and no door panels, and that's how I got it. The dash is fairly nice actually. The windshield was cracked and was removed so it didn't shatter. There is only some side glass, at least 1 quarter window. I think I have the pass door glass but it's not installed in the car anymore. The engine and trans are 100% complete. Car is equipped with Auto Pilot. Previous owner has a note with paperwork, that car ran in 1990, my friend tried to turn over the motor but it is stuck now, did not do anything beside that.
It has rust in the lower quarters and the wheel wells. The floor on the passenger side under where the front seat would be and in the rear where you would put your feet is the worst. Those 2 pans need to be replaced. Pic13 shows it, that pic is from when I bought the car. The front floors are not nearly as bad but still need some work. DR door is no good. Pass is ok. Hood has some rust on the inside, and would need to be replaced. There are some random rust spots on the front end and of course the bottons of the fenders have rust, but they are fixable. Trunk lid is so-so. Don't recall on trunk floor. Rockers not bad but need some work under the quarter windows as is typical on these (no drainage in that area). Rockers are available on E-bay. I think it's original paint and it looks straight
It has both VIN and data tags. I have the title, 1980s Montana title but looks like it was signed off 1 too many times. Depending on your state it may be easier to try to get a replacement title. It rolls and steers fine.
This is a major project or maybe for parts, but I would like to see it saved. No you can't drive it home. I can help you with parts. I know where there are 1, possibly 2 top assemblies.I know of a rust free, 99% complete 1962 coupe that is reasonably price, it is also in CA, that would make this restoration much easier, you wouldn't have to search all over for stuff. The convertible windshield trim is same 1960-1966 so it should be impossible to acquire, and so are sunvisors (none included with the car). I had the restoration all planned out and was going to do it black/red but sick of paying storage on a car I won't get to for ages. Don't know the mileage on the car
The car can stay where it is indefinitely but you have to pay the $35 a month storage starting January (this month). I'm not paying for storage on it anymore. The car can be seen in person if you are in the Mojave area but will have to coordinate with owner of the yard
I'm sure there is something I have forgotten. I'll ship you a front bumper for it if you pay the shipping, as well as a few extra hubcaps. I'm not asking a lot for the car so don't have unreasonable expectations, and I expect serious buyers. Probably the cheapest you will ever see a fixable one. This is rare car, 1 of only 554 built
Car is sold complete as-is, where is, with no warranties expressed or implied.
Full payment by check, bank wire, etc required in 7 days, otherwise car will be relisted. No exceptions. Call me with question on the car or payment 847 707 8312. Leave message.
