Car description |

1961 Chrysler Imperial **Crown** Coupe with the original numbers matching 418 Engine & Transmission.
This car is Southern California Barn Find. I Have owned this car a little over a year, my plan was to restore it and enjoy it, but things have changed, So I haven't really worked on it much other than changing out the fluids and plugs, the car has been sitting for a while, but the good thing is that the engine still turns over and starts.
This is a great candidate for a full restoration or with just a few minor repairs it would make a great cruiser. Only 1 of 1007 ever produced. In my research, I have found that most all the 61 imperials that are for sale are the sedans and a few convertibles....but rarely a coupe. The 1961 is the only year that came with the large rear tail fins that has become so iconic in the early 60's cars that every one enjoys.. This car is a true must see to appreciate piece of automotive artistic history.
ENGINE: the engine starts, but its been sitting for a long time, so I would replace a few parts before driving it around.
TRANSMISSION: All gears engage smoothly and shift fine. put it on a dyno machine and ran through the gears and they all seemed to shift fine, but again its been sitting.
BRAKES: never serviced the brakes, but the peddle goes down to the floor board... NEW WHITE WALL TIRES.
BODY: The body on this 61 beauty is in good condition considering how large and old this car is...... I don't see any signs of body repair. There is a small rust spot that is visible near the rear window, about the size of a quarter and the drivers rocker panel needs repair. The under carriage looks to be solid with no rust issues other than the exhaust pipe.
TRIM: All trim pieces on the car are there with nothing missing.
INTERIOR: As you will be able to tell in the photos the interior is original with some cuts in the seats. every thing is in tact with no pieces missing. the stainless trim on the dash is in really good condition, the seats, carpet, door panels and headliner would need to be replaced. The rear window does go up, its just off track.
ALSO WILLING TO TRADE.....OR.......... HELP MANAGE A QUALITY RESTORATION. I work with only top quality paint and interior specialist's. My prices are affordable and my turn around time might surprise you.
