1955 Chrysler Windsor Deluxe
65,000 original miles.
The car was sold by the original owner with 62,000 miles and the second owner only put 3,000 miles on the car.
This was a 2 owner car when I purchased it, and I did title it in my name to make sure I had the proper, legal possession of the car.
This car was stored in a garage for 25 years. I have the original title for the car from when it was new, the auto trader ad with pictures from when it was sold in the early 90's to the second owner, as well as various original and replacement parts and several service and repair manuals. This is a complete car, and from what I can tell all the original parts and equipment are present with the exception of 2 badges that should say "deluxe" on the front fenders.
This car has power steering and manual brakes. It is still using the original 6 volt system and the generator and voltage regular are original and are charging.
The engine is a 301 Spitfire. (hemi/polysphere) and the transmission is the 2 speed PowerFlite. It is not a push button, it has a lever on the dash R/N/D and used the hand brake for park
New parts include
Engine:
Points
CondenserCoil
Plugs
Wires
Cap
Rotor
Battery
Re-cored radiator and heater core
Thermostat
Coolant hoses
Rebuilt carb
Fuel filter
Fuel pump
Body:
Brake master cylinder
Fuel tank has been professionally cleaned and coated.
Interior
I have had the entire interior replaced in the original pattern, but with a different type of material. Also instead of a vinyl floor, I had it changed to carpet. The following were replaced:
Head liner
Carpet
Kick plates
Dash
Package tray
Door panels
Seats
The car runs and moves under its own power. To the best of my knowledge, everything on the car is original or original style equipment. The only thing that I changed that is not original to the car is the fuel pump and the coolant lines for the radiator. The original fuel pump was leaking so I changed it to a fuel pump for a 318. I saved the original pump and it is rebuild-able.
In order to run and drive, it just needs a few more bugs worked out from sitting for so long. It is a dual points distributor and the points might need adjusted. The points are new and there is a possibility that I did not get them gaped properly. The float level on the carb also needs to be adjusted.
The transmission was rebuilt from a shop by the second owner (I have the receipt) but the bands needs to be adjusted. It shifts nicely and drive fine when going forward, when going into reverse, it is not as smooth. The second owner only put a few miles on it.
The brakes work but I have not made any attempt to adjust them.
All the chrome is present (with exception to the 2 "deluxe" badges) and I have not made any attempts to polish. It is probably a 7 out of 10, with some better or worse than others. The nickle trim is complete and in very great shape.
From what I can tell the white paint is original and is in good shape for the age. The blue paint may have been redone at some point. If it was, the trim was removed and there is no obvious evidence of masking lines on the body what so ever. It matches the same color as the jambs as well as the bottoms of the doors, fire wall, and inside of the trunk lid and hood. There is still inspectorsstamps on the drivers side fire wall.
The doors, rockers, and frame are all in great shape. I can not find any evidence of bondo or glass in the body. The rear quarters and fenders are solid with the exception of some paint bubbles at the lowest portion of the quartersbetween the rear tire and bumper. It is a very thin area and you can see it unless you are looking from the ground.
When I bought this car it was like an untouched time capsule. I am moving and can not take it with me.
