The snow has cleared and the time has come. I was contacted by a well seasoned older Hot Rod guy that lives in my town. He has asked me to list and sell a few of his vehicles. I took a trip to his farm in NH and we liberated his old 53 Suburban from the barn where it was stored for the winter. It started right up and I drove it90 miles home. Quite an adventure. This suburban was built around 1997. It started out as a clean andsolidstockunrestored truck with a six cylinder which was promptly removed. It was sent to a local rod shop where they modified the frame and suspension. The front framewas chopped offat the firewall. New frame railsand thecrossmember were fabricated from 2x4 HD tube stock. A full modern1996 Corvette front end was fitted to give it a great stance in addition to great handling disc brakes and power steering. The rear end was replaced with a GM 10 bolt with drum brakes. I believe the ratio to be in the 3.23 range for highway cruising. A power brake booster was installed and the brakes were plumbed. Therolling chassis was sent back to the owner. He installed a Chevy small block with a turbo 350 transmission out of a donor car. I don't know what size.He seems to recall the engine/transmission came out of a mid 70'schevelle I just picked up the truck yesterday and plan to find the engine numbers. It starts and runs very mild mannered. It is not a race truck. It was built to be used and driven. It was painted18 years ago in hot rod black with weld wheels. The yellowscallops were added at some point. The floors in the front were patched. The rear wood floor looks like it may be original. Fast Forward almost20 years..... The truck still runs and drives well. The engine/trans and engine compartment are filthy. He has used it well.We plan to steam clean everything. All the directionals/lights electric wipers spotlamp aftermarket gauges still work. The factory cluster is not connected.Thecorvette front monospring was replaced with a new unit last year. The front end is tight. Tires are good. The body is complete and fairly straight but has developed rust issues that need to be addressesed when restoration begins. Rear fenders lower rockers drivers and rear doors have some rust through. Front fenders are glass. This is a running and driving complete HotRod truck. It should be restored because it is so rare. It can be driven as is if you like with a little updating. Carries no Warranty or Returns. Buyer pays shipping. I can help with shipping details or pick buyer up at airport. Please call with questions as this is a sixty year old truck. Thanks for caring andrestoring. I can be reached at 978 six two one 9996
