1956 Chev 2 door hardtop. 350 4 bolt main built 200r 4 speed trans 12 bolt narrowed rear end. The particulars: I have owned this car since 1978. It was originally from Oregon. All of the sheet metal is original to the car with the exception of the transmission hump. Thru the years before I obtained possession of the car the shifter area was hogged out. I carefully installed a new hump by butt welding it in place and finishing it off to look unrepaired. The car has never been wrecked and there is minimal body putty on the car. The floors are all original with some repaired very small holes. The trim pieces are in excellent condition. 1 piece calif bumpers Garage kept. For owning the car this long I probably have not driven the car more than 500 miles. The car originally had 122000 miles on the body. The body was removed from the frame with new bushings installed The underneath is cleaned and undercoated A list of what makes this car a worth while investment. Narrowed 12 bolt rear end with mosier axles. Currently has rare 8.5” early American racing mags no cap bolt holes( push in caps not included) New springs pocketed into the frame traction bars from cal custom customized to fit pocketed springs. Traction bars were purchased from Caltrac to fit pocketed springs. They did not fit correctly I had to have them modified to fit the pocketed springs. I feel they are a little stiff without th weight of a supercharger in front but very drivable will not shake your teeth out. The steering is super smooth. You might want to change the pulley on the power steering pump to slow down the pump for more road feel. Front windshield was installed new and has never had wipers run on it. The side glass frames are original from the 1956 They are in good condition need to be replated to be perfect. The side glass was installed new clear no scratches. Flaming river stainless steel tilt steering column and steering wheel. Flaming river stainless steering joints connect the rack and pinion to the column. This is an ongoing restoration I would say 95% finished. The car is a sweet driver but needs some fresh work done to be a high end car. If you are looking for a 56 chev that you can drive to cruise inns and local car shows this will fit the bill. Not so perfect that driving it would make you sweat it but above average to be proud of. The car definitely grabs attention.
