Extremely fun to drive with plenty of power and striking good looks these Chevys inspire a cult like following and provide one of the most enjoyable ownership experiences on the planet. This well-done '63 pro-tourer is an amazing classic that's ready for years of endless cruising thanks to a custom chassis substantially improved aesthetics and 525 horses of Chevrolet Performance small block! Want to put some killer American muscle in your garage? Check out this slick split-window Vette!

BODYWORK/TRIM

An exceptionally solid survivor that was long ago separated from its original drivetrain this stunning Sting Ray is the product of a 2000 hour restoration that was conducted by Restocreations of Birmingham Alabama It all started in January of 2013 when the car a clean Virginia driver that had been fitted with fresh quarters and a new rear valance was stripped dipped in 1.5 gallons of Slick Sand and SPI epoxy primer and sanded for a solid month. Working with a super smooth canvas Alabaster Alabama's Performance Car Craft sealed correct SPI Tuxedo Black paint in wet-looking layers of SPI Universal Clear. And in the fall of 2014 this Corvette debuted as a sinister Chevy road warrior that in addition to having much more presence than a candy-tinted classic wears an appearance worthy of its exceptional design and world-beating performance!

The second iteration of America's favorite sports car debuted a much more assertive demeanor thanks to GM's renewed dedication to motorsports. And that newfound aggression is especially prevalent in this coupe's edgy detailing. The car opens with a shaved clip which centers a stainless-trimmed grille between mirrored bumpers Detroit Speed headlights and GM-licensed Trim Parts marker lamps. Above that grille a '63-exclusive hood leads the eye to dent-free trim which along with 10-speed Detroit Speed wipers highlights smoked Antique Auto City glass. At the sides of that hood a sinuous profile hangs a familiar bowtie mirror between small fender flags tall rocker guards and factory door handles that like various other pieces of original trim were restored by Paul's Chrome Plating of Evan's City Pennsylvania. And at the back of the car's profile a subtle Corvette-branded fuel filler rides above a shaved deck more mirrored bumpers GM-licensed Trim Parts taillights and large center-outlet exhaust pipes.

ENGINE

Gaze upon this Chevy's smooth engine bay and you'll find 6.2 liters of small block fury! Officially known as the Chevrolet Performance LS376 that sweet crate engine twists respectable 10.7 to 1 compression into 525 horsepower and 475 lb./ft. of everyday torque. And despite consistently delivering track-blistering low-end performance it revs to 6600 RPM and regularly achieves over 20 MPG! Up top a polished air tube and reusable filter element funnel wind in to a factory throttle body and custom polished aluminum intake. That air marries fuel under rectangular-port L92-style heads which hide high-rate springs inside anodized Billet Specialties valve covers. That volatile union gets compressed by a nodular crank powdered connecting rods and hypereutectic pistons. Power is made by a racing-inspired ASA cam that thanks to better breathing maximizes intake efficiency. There's a custom DeWitts aluminum radiator that's fitted with a DeWitts temperature-sensitive puller fan and thermostat-controlled Vintage Air pusher fan. A harmonious combination of GM and American Autowire electronics derives charge from a polished Vintage Air FrontRunner system. And items like stainless fluid lines PowerBraid wire sleeving a faux carbon fiber intake cover a Billet Specialties water neck a billet master cylinder and a Ringbrothers billet clutch reservoir add a level of detailing that stops people in their tracks.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

Park this Vette on a lift and you'll find a sturdy SRIII Motorsports chassis that's been bolted to SRIII-massaged floor tubs and powder-coated in a subdued Satin Black shine. Behind the stout small block a Science Friction flywheel and Centerforce dual-friction hydraulic clutch kick an American Powertrain-sourced Tremec. That tough 5-speed twists torque through a custom Drivetech driveshaft to a rugged Currie rear end and big 3.73 gears. That first class drivetrain rolls on a C6-style independent suspension that's fitted with double-adjustable Viking coil-overs. Turns come courtesy of Flaming River Road Race power rack-and-pinion steering. Electronically boosted stops are provided by modern ABS drilled slotted and zinc-plated rotors and Corvette-branded calipers. Exhaust rolls from stainless JBA shorties to custom stainless plumbing which was married to an X-shaped crossover billet hangers and Borla tail pipes at Birmingham's Morgan Performance Fabrication. Power spins through custom Boze alloys which wear two 245/40ZR18 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs in front of two 275/35ZR18 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs. And everything from this Chevy's electronic parking brake and SRIII fluid lines to its stainless fuel tank and modern computer-controlled fuel pump is built solid professionally finished and ready for action.

INTERIOR

Pop the lightweight doors and you'll find an Al Knoch-tweaked SEM Hot Rod Black interior that continues this Sting Ray's monochromatic visuals. Front and center fifth generation Corvette buckets wrap retractable shoulder harnesses around perforated leather hides. In front of those seats a French-stitched dash hangs a rebuilt clock Vintage Air Gen IV climate control and an MP3-compatible Antique Audio stereo beside Auto Meter American Muscle gauges. At the edges of that dash factory side panels anchor billet vent window handles above small armrests and tasteful stainless trim. At the bottom of those panels custom cut-pile carpet balances Al Knoch floor mats between Lord Fusor seam sealer FatMat sound insulation and Billet Specialties pedal covers. At the center of that carpet a factory console anchors a custom-booted shifter in front of correct power window switches. In front of the driver a polished Billet Specialties steering wheel spins stylish carbon fiber accents around a tilting Flaming River column. Behind the passengers a custom-carpeted storage area features enough room for a weekend getaway. And a virtual skeleton of high quality electronics which includes a hidden antenna Auto Meter gauge wiring a Ken Harrison speaker and Lectric Limited harnesses mixes old school aesthetics with modern car convenience.
