1955 Chevy Bel Air 2 Door Hardtop Coupe. A detailed inspection of the vehicle revealed a totally fresh zero miles driven body off modified 100 point restoration. Black Cherry Pearl color was done in B/C - C/C---applied to an extremely straight and well prepared surface. Finished paint work was then wet color sanded with #2000 paper. Surface was then buffed with a wool pad, then polished with foam pad and finally hand rubbed to the final depth of gloss. All chrome and stainless bright work was either replated or professionally straightened, buffed and polished. Rolling chassis consisted of a complete tear down with all components being sandblasted and either finished out with powder coating or epoxy paint. All suspension bushings and body bushings were replaced with polygraphite energy suspension parts. Front brakes were also converted to power disc using a kit supplied by Stainless Steel Brake Corp. All new brake lines and flex lines were done in stainless steel. A two inch drop front spindles by Global West were installed. A #605 power steering conversion box was added. Both coil springs and leaf springs are new Hotokis. Shocks are gas adjust KYB. Car rides on a set of Crager SS mags and Hawk wide oval tires. Power is supplied by a stock block 1973 Chevy 300 HP 350 cu. In. engine which was bored .30 over and fitted with TRW pistons - Lunati cam and crane rocker assemblies. Carburetion is Quadrojet.. Ignition was upgraded to Accell HEI unit. Aluminum radiator was a BE-COOL Co. unit specific to '55 Chevys. A high torque electric fan system cools the engine. A billet aluminum overflow catch tank is mounted on the core support. A Muncie 4 speed and Hurst shifter with a Center Force clutch transfer power to the rebuilt stock differential. All electrical wiring harnesses were replaced with M & H brand products. All switches and relays and sockets were replaced with new. Battery cell was relocated to the trunk area and housed in a Billet Specialist battery box. Chromed 130 amp hi-output alternator keeps the system charged. Stereo system is a Custom Auto Sound 140 watt Secret Audio Solution with an integrated 10 disc Kenwood Disc Player - rear speakers are 6x9 Cadence 160 watt tri coil - front speakers are Rich panel mounted 110 watt 6 in. Kenwood ASV coils. Steering column is an IDIDIT tilt unit topped by a leather accented Billet Specialty Wheel. The rear third brake light, door handles, window cranks, door lock pulls and sill plates are also Billet Specialists quality products. Under hood the valve covers, breather caps and air cleaner, power steering cap, radiator cap and other accent items are custom Billet Specialist dress up items. The interior seating is a rolled and pleated leather, ivory in color. The backs of all four seats have a raised Chevrolet Bow Tie emblem made into the leather. The matching door and side panels are rolled and pleated with the raised Bow Tie on the flat section of the panel. The dash board has the original Chevy Row Tie grill work, glove box door, radio (non-working, the stereo is in the box) and a digital dash system. A complete set of new tinted glass was purchased from Vintage Glass Co. and installed using all new window felts and sweeps and rubber front and rear glass seals. A solid arm windshield wiper replacement unit by RainGear Co. was used to rid the car of the obsolete vacuum cable model. Heating and air conditioning unit was an OID Air Products style and was ordered to incorporate the use of the original dash control panel. Body shell and door cavities were lined with a foil backed sound deadening insulation to control outside road noise making heat and AC more efficient. Many specialty custom features are also incorporated into the overall look of the 55 Chevy and have greatly enhanced the appearance, drivability as well as the value of the car.
