When you take a thoroughly restored, first generation Corvette and add in a handful of well-chosen upgrades, it makes for a very potent result, as this 1961 Chevrolet Corvette Restomod ably illustrates. It's an attention getter of the first order, ready to work its magic at local shows and turn heads wherever it goes with its outstanding curb appeal - and it comes complete with build receipts to document the extensive work that went into its transformation.
Its color scheme is absolutely awesome. A deep LeMans Blue runs from front to back, giving way to white that fills the signature coves, resulting in an appearance that really allows this droptop to stand out in any setting. There's a great array of chrome on display here as well and all of it presents very nicely. This vintage 'Vette underwent a restoration as thorough as they come - its frame was ramrod straight to begin with and was blasted and painted for protection before rejoining its clean, undamaged body and being precisely aligned. Both its front and back bumpers, as well all its badging and trim, were either re-chromed, polished or replaced entirely. A lot of work, to be sure, but it really paid off. Since it's been garage kept since its reemergence, it's at the top of its game. For protection from the elements, you'll have a couple of options - a manual cloth convertible top and a very well-fitted matching accessory hard top.
The interior has been restored essentially from scratch. The black leather buckets really have to be experienced firsthand. Not only are they well-fitted and comfortable, but they've been equipped with speakers in the upper seat backs for a great audio experience on the road, which is driven by a trunk mounted Alpine amp that sends outstanding sound through a total of eight speakers inside the car. The door panels are ornamented by clean chrome accents and carry completely restored hardware. A leather-wrapped, stainless steel steering wheel sits on an Ididit tilting column, while the dash area just in front of it is particularly impressive. Corvettes of this era were light years in front of most of the competition as far as driver-centric aesthetics were concerned and you can see why with just a quick glance at what's on board here. All of the instrumentation was professionally rebuilt to its original specs and every gauge sits behind a crystal clear lens for maximum visibility. A modern climate control system has also been seamlessly added, so you'll cruise in absolute comfort no matter the weather.
Ample power - a full 370 horses - comes from a 350 cubic inch crate motor that's been dressed to the nines with a sharply branded air cleaner and polished valve covers, as well as a billet pulley system. Everything looks very fresh under the hood - the engine is surrounded by fresh hoses and a new wiring harness was installed to maximize dependability. The powerplant teams with a Tremec 5 speed manual transmission, so you'll have the benefit of an overdrive gear to keep revs down while you're cruising the highway in this stellar ride. Because this classic now sits on a Jim Meyer subframe, it now features smooth, precise power rack and pinion steering, power front disc brakes and coilovers and it's been lowered just a bit to further improve handling as it turns all heads in sight on its set of 15" Billet Specialties Classic polished aluminum wheels wrapped with BF Goodrich T/A radials.
This 1961 Chevrolet Corvette Restomod is an exceptionally well-restored classic and with its collection of well-chosen modern upgrades, it offers an outstanding driving experience. Call today!
