I am listing this truck in the C-10 category so that people can find it. but this is a C-30 1-ton. It is truly utilitarian with all heavy duty options. and the only creature comforts are an 8-track player and air conditioning. Currently. the truck runs and drives. Under the hood. nbsp;it seems to be all factory GM with the exception of the upper radiator hose--GM water pump. GM hoses. GM belts. With 39. 10 original miles. this is an amazing find for such an old vehicle! When I divide the mileage by the age of the truck (31). I get 1. 81 miles per year. It also still has the original pollution control system. which you rarely see anymore and looks to be functioning as it should. It also has a fifth wheel hitch. This truck has lived in Texas its whole life. so it only has minimal surface rust in places on the frame and suspension. which may never have been painted from the factory. If you notice on the picture of the back of the truck. there is a small sticker on the bumper that says "Bumper Works. Inc Manufactured in Ballinger. TX" and the tailgate has a decal from the Brady Motor Co. in Brady. TX. Evidence that there are truly only 39. 10 original miles on this truck: previous owner's claim. doors have no sag. factory door pins have never been changed or altered. minimal wear on door strikers. door and window rubbers in great shape. pedals have virtually no wear. everywhere you look under the hood has "Made in USA" "GM" markings. and the factory paint is in good condition. I bought this truck from a plumber who had it parked behind his house on a neatly mowed piece of property. He said he had accepted it some years before for payment for a plumbing job that he had done for an attorney. who used it on his ranch. I believe that is why it has not been tagged since 1991. When I first saw the truck. I thought it was just the cab and chassis because the owner had removed the bed just after he got it to put on a utility bed. I don't know for sure why his plans never materialized. but I think the truck had been sitting for some time. It may have been because of a fuel pump which he said needed changed or his health. but I don't know for sure. He said it would run with gas down the carburetor and that he could show me but I declined and took him at his word. He only gave me ignition keys. and I later found the factory door keys (with the factory key code that at one time you could take to the dealership to order a new key) hanging by a shower curtain hanger under the driver wheel well. where they still hang. So fast forward: I ordered a North American-made gas tank and a new filler tube and found a used gas filler for the truck. installed a fuel pump. dumped some fuel in the tank. and it started up no problem. My first trip in it was today (3/30/2015) to take it to a local garage to put up on the lift for pictures. (Just a note: I failed to rinse off the underside of the truck prior to the pictures. not realizing it was covered in a sandy dust that would easily wash off. So now the undercarriage looks cleaner than in the photos. because I've rinsed the dirt off. ) I also replaced the battery tray. only because I found a nicer one while I was looking for a replacement for the fuel filler neck. which was lost. The previous owner had placed the bed about 20 yards away on some soft soil. which amazingly never harmed the bed. There are some light dents in the bed. The bed is now held down with 1/2" carriage head bolts. The heads of the original factory bolts were ground off to remove the bed (??). There is some damage to the bed associated with this (see picture--the one close up I included is f by FAR the worst damage). There is some wiring that is still disconnected. apparently due to damage from a rodent that had nested in the radiator overflow tank before I replaced it. So while the fuel gauge and odometer work. the oil pressure. temp. and alternator gauges appear not to. It looks to be a quick fix. since there are some obviously disconnected wires (see pictures). The AC still has a charge but is not currently working. It could be as simple as adding Freon. but I haven't messed with it so can't say for sure. The tires look practically new without any wear other than age. However. they are old. so I do not recommend driving a long distance on them. The rear wheel wells are damaged by what appears to be an intentional modification to bend them inward. which caused a depression above the wheel wells. which was then body filled. I don't know why this modification occurred. but since it all appears intentional I don't expect there is any rust to worry about. There are several cracks in the dash from the Texas sun. The only other thing I've changed on the truck is the painted side mirrors. which I replaced with factory stainless steel ones. I also removed the grill guard. which I'll still include with the truck (no picture of it). I replaced it with the factory GM push bars (I'm probably wording that wrong--see picture of front bumper). Something to note: this truck hasn't been used for quite some time and has probably never seen a tune-up. To be cautious. I would recommend bringing it back gently. For example. while they are intact and currently functioning. the belts and spark plugs are 32 years old. So while it is a heavy-duty workhorse. I would not recommend immediately hooking a travel trailer to it and hauling ass across the country. (Although with the proper care that could certainly be in its future. )There is a blue Texas title in my name. This is a great old truck that should go down the road for years to come. It truly deserves to be restored and enjoyed by someone who can give it the attention it needs. Please ask any questions before bidding. Buyer to arrange and pay for any shipping.
