A Rare Survivor Indeed.
Welcome to the Auction for my 1942 GMC panel Truck (with Chevy Grill)
I've owned this wonderful Art Deco Design Panel for about 10 years - during a good bit of that time it was my daily driver.
Life changes and now I need to refocus and so I am making this available to someone who can restore this truck to its full potential or to enjoy tinkering on it for their own measures.
Someone swapped the grill and installed a chevy 250 engine and donor rear before I got the truck.
Body is great. There is a little dent in the front right fender.Paint is on its last legs but when polished and waxed shows nice - has chips scratches and is starting to peel in a couple spotsOriginal Colors of paint but not original paint. Also to not there are a few areas of putty and the bottom of the doors had some work done before I got the truck.
The truck still has its original wood slats and cardboard insulation in the rear - super cool and rarely survive!Cab cardboard front head liner replaced.Running boards in great shape.
Th350 Transmission was rebuilt in the last 20,000 miles.
I added the Vintage Style Automatic Shifter and it has a nice effect.Chevy 250 engine was also rebuilt recently.
Carburetor is a single barrel 1970's econo-master and was giving me trouble when last running. There was also a vibration in the truck, I believe the flywheel needs to be replaced.
Last driven about a year ago and it was running rough as I hadn't been using it much.
Front Disk Brakes.
wiring was switched to 12 volt before I got truck - probably time to rewire, but I didn't get to it.Mileage counter, speedometer and gauges not converted.A simple add on oil and temp gauge was installed as is common with these type of trucks.
Antique Plates front and back. The front one is bent up and the rear is in very nice condition.
Comes with roof rack ...in case you have a surf board!
Current CA DMV sticker coming shortly and will be forwarded to you if needed.
Email any questions in plenty of time please.
Pickup and full payment within 10 days of auctions end.
The truck comes with the Chrome reproduction chrome ( AS SHOWN bumpers ) which look GREAT...
however I managed to acquire a set of 1938 front and rear bumpers from a carry all/panel-like vehicle. The rear bumper has the instep, and these are SUPER RARE and NOT in reproduction. If you would like to purchase these bumpers separately they will create a much more original appearance for a full restoration and a more antique heavy duty built and themselves have a simple deco design.
If the buyer of the truck doesn't want to purchase them separately I will soon then list them on Ebay.
Comes with a few other spare parts and a set of rubber that was not installed.Carburetor Cover was lost in the last year - sorry.
