1965 Chevy C10 Long Bed Fleetside “Camper Special”
This truck has been upgraded with a 305 Camaro engine, replaced transmission, dual exhaust and all new engine wire and tubes. It runs nicely, sounds great and has a lot of power. The title is 100% clean and in my name. The body is straight and it has never been in a serious accident.
This truck has been fixed up over the years by the owners in basically original condition instead of replacing with reproduction parts. Two mechanics have worked with me to get it into the condition it is in now over the past year or so. We installed all basic parts to get it going well such as a replaced transmission, new gas tank, new tires, new Edelbrock carburetor, air filter, fan belts, spark plugs, distributor, wires, clear fuel filter, all hoses, clutch linkage, mirrors. The brakes and clutch work well and the "3 on the tree" transmission shifts well. It also has a few extra gauges added by the previous owner that work.
I have never seen another “Camper Special” with the running lights on the top on Craigslist or anywhere else. I have to sell it because Ilive in SF and I cannot park it anymore along with my other family cars.
It is 100% legal to drive including working headlights, tail lights, gauges, turn signals etc. It runs fine on the freeway and has good clearance.
It could use a few more things to finish it out that I haven't gotten to yet: install new windshield wipers, repair the running lights on top (they worked a few months ago, but now they are not working again so you probably just have to reconnect the wire to the lights). The truck has some remaining rusty sections in the normal places such as under the bottoms of the doors, under the lip of the hood, and a few other places but they don't affect the functionality of the truck and are not very visible. I spent a long time cleaning and repairing rust sections in visible places and under the truck. The truck frame is very solid and most panels have been repaired as you can see in the pictures. Fix battery drain issue - I usually remove the battery cables at night as old-school security, but if you leave the cables connected full-time while the truck is sitting, there is some battery drain issue that I have not addressed yet -probably a loose cable. This doesn't affect driving at all though.
The truck is very easy to work on and amazingly, ALL parts for this truck are available pretty cheap on sites such as Brothers Trucks, LMC Trucks etc. including panels, windows, wheels everything.
I have put a lot of money and time into the truck but I am selling it lower than I normally would due to COVID, so grab a good deal!
This would be a local pickup only from San Francisco.
On Oct-10-20 at 11:41:57 PDT, seller added the following information:I forgot to add that the E-brake cable needs to be replaced. It is cheap though and is replaced just like a bike brake cable.
On Oct-10-20 at 22:02:21 PDT, seller added the following information:I also have a lot of extra parts to throw in for free: Spare wheel/tire, original starter, mirrors, gasket covers, carburetor, etc.
On Oct-11-20 at 11:52:46 PDT, seller added the following information:I also have the manual to include for free which is very simple and helpful(see attached photo). Also, one knowledgeable-sounding ebay user said it may not be a camper special. It is possible that this is not a camper special, but a C10 fleetside longbed with some "camper special"-like characteristics such as the camper lights on top and slight raised rear (to accommodate camper weight). I have tried to find a comparable camper-special online, but have not found another with the top lights like this one.
