Car description

Hello and thank you for looking at my auction. My name is Joe and I sell vehicles differently than most dealers. Buying your next car or truck through one of my NO RESERVE auctions is the best way to take the games out of your next automotive purchase. I personally road test each vehicle before it is offered for sale so I can give you my first hand opinion of how it runs and drives. Please keep in mind that I am not a mechanic. Each vehicle is represented accurately and honestly to the best of my knowledge and ability. Please take the time to check out each of the 70+ photos and read this entire written description, as well as our Terms & Conditions at the bottom of each listing, carefully BEFORE asking questions or placing a bid as most answers can be found in at least one of those places. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction. Up for a NO RESERVE auction is a 1988 Chevrolet Corvette coupe with just 131k miles. I would rate the exterior of this Corvette to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. As you can see, this is a decent looking old Vette. It is finished in a Copper / Burgundy over black leather interior with updated chrome wheels, which is a good look. The finish looks to be an older repaint, but is presentable. The finish shines nicely and looks smooth all around. There are some visible imperfections around the left headlight and around the leading edge of the roof. Also, there is some visible fading on the top facing part of the rear peace. All in all, not too bad for a 33 year old car. The body lines are nice and straight. The hood, doors, and rear hatch all open and close easily. All of the trim and cladding is present and shows well. When I tested the headlights, I did notice that only one of them opens about halfway...so you'll have to get that fixed. The chrome alloy wheels shine nicely and really give this old 'Vette an updated look. They're wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1's all around and show good tread. Please take your time and check out each of the photos carefully to see how clean this Corvette came in. I would rate the interior of this Corvette to be in ABOVE AVERAGE CONDITION...mainly for the condition of the seats and dash. The door cards are clean and tight. The dash shows no cracks...not even any fading. The carpets are clean and full looking, throughout the interior. The leather seats are clean, comfortable, and show very well for their age. It's evident that this Corvette spent its life in a garage. As with any older vehicle, there are a few things that will need gone over. The biggest of which is the digital dash, which appears to be completely inoperable. The power windows and locks both work. A few of the seat buttons don't work. One bit of great news is that the automatic climate control system appears to be fully functional and working properly. The heater works well and the air conditioner blows ICE COLD AIR, too. Again, please take your time and check out each of the photos carefully. Mechanically, this Corvette appears to be in need of a tune up. I'm not going to pretend to know the first thing about TPI or TBI fuel injection from GM's 80s and 90s...so I'm just going to tell you what it does. The 5.7L V8 starts up pretty easy. This Corvette definitely has aftermarket headers and exhaust, so it's loud. The idle is pretty choppy, almost as if it has an aftermarket cam...but I'm pretty sure it's in need up a tune up. On occasion, it won't want to idle. When it sits and idles, it is obviously running very rich. When you drive the car, it also runs choppy at times and breaks up under load. I don't see anything terribly wrong...or even complicated, if this is a fuel injection system you're familiar with. That being said, it does run and drive. I drove this Corvette about 70 miles and it got me where I was going without trouble. The transmission engages smoothly and shifts through the gears with no issues. I did notice a vibration in the wheel, at highway speeds, but it's hard to tell if that is something needing attention in the suspension / steering or if it was just acting like that due to running rough bc I did notice it more when I was on the throttle. I had it cruising at 70+ (indicated by my phone's GPS) and it cruised well. If you're looking for a pre-facelift C4 and you're familiar with these cars, here's your chance to grab a decent one that needs a little love. She comes in as a fresh NEW CAR TRADE and is offered to you exactly how it was traded. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
