1984 Chevy Silverado Pickup
Short Bed / Short Wheel Base (SWB)
VIN: 2GCDC14H0E1148773
This is a cool old Southern (Tennessee) Chevy Silverado short bed pickup that has its share of chips, dents, dings, scratches, scrapes, and other wear and tear. For its age (~36 years old) it is a very presentable truck and a great starting point for a hot rod or just a fun vintage truck to drive around.
The blue and gray two-tone paint scheme is sharp!
I bought this truck to build a hot rod but have found a nicer C10 that I like even better.
This is a nicely optioned Silverado pickup. It has a 5.0L (305) V8 engine with a 4 speed overdrive automatic transmission (I believe it would be a 700R4). An overdrive transmission makes these old trucks much more enjoyable to drive. It’s easy to forget what it was like driving the old 3 speeds without overdrive (engine screaming at 3000 RPM on the highway). Having overdrive in this truck is very nice and makes this truck a comfortable cruiser!
Some of the other options include:
- Power Steering
- Power Brakes
- Air Conditioning (currently working well)
- Power Windows (go up and down a little on the slow side which is typical of these trucks.
- Power Locks
- Sliding Rear Window
- Tilt Steering
- Cruise Control (I tried this on the highway and was surprised to find that it still works!)
- Rare Slide-Out Spare Tire Option
- Bed Rails
- Bumperettes on the Front
- Dual Fuel Tanks
- Truck Rally Wheels
I recently put a new battery in the truck
The bed is in nice condition for an old truck
The truck comes with a Tennessee title
I also recently had the front and rear transmission seals replaced as well as the transmission oil filter.
The truck was repainted in its original blue and gray two-tone paint scheme before I purchased it. The paint is presentable but has more orange peal than I like.
The tires are date coded the 46th week of 2017 and have good tread.
The interior has some wear and fading but overall is very presentable.
The truck appears to be very solid with minimal corrosion. I included some underside photos. For you guys living up North you’re money ahead finding a nice solid Southern truck!
