Chevrolet G20 Van Conversion Van By Tiara Motorcoach Company. Runs and Drives, Excellent Interior Condition of Original Conversion parts and interior for a lover of van lore and time travel.
It is a solid engine that starts every time and never caused trouble. We used it to go "camping" nearby and mainly use it for its comfiness. Dont have a place to cover and restore it, so it's time to say so long.
Selling as is - I am not a mechanic, and will give all info in description and pics. It is a beast, and served us well. We knew we would restore or sell this fall, so we haven't put extra time or $ into it. We were told we are second owners. Owner before didnt keep garaged but he did use and maintain engine. Wasnt sitting long enough to get any rust though, just weather the paint and get really dirty.
I just recieved its brand new replacement title, clean and in hand.Registered with antique tags so no need to pass emissions test.
The interior condition is truly remarkable in the the most important places, in contrast to the weather-aged paint and gruff of the exterior and the wrinkles of time in the dashboard and widgets up front. It is bruised up on the outside but there are no rips or tears on the original upholstery fabrics, specially in the back. It really. seems like they were covered since 1991, and just saw light again. The seatback pockets are stretched out on all 4 chairs, but otherwise all in tact and super plush and comfy. The carpet has seen a different life though. It's a shaggy and coarse material that has some stains and it shows its age, but could be cleaned easily. It is also on seen the bottom of the doors and in the floorboards up front, but it is not in the very back of the van where you put luggage.
The front/cab area and the storage compartments in the raised roof have wear and tear on the wood, especially where they made it with cheaper stuff/tried odd designs. The buttons/anything you touch up front are old but functional, from regular use and time. The flashers lever is replaced with a screw (it works).
Original Tiara Executive is in tact except the world first solar panel came of the roof, which when I grazed the bottom of our carport on the first day- it wasnt bad but it caused some cosmetic fiberglass roof scrapes - no serious wounds or subsequent leaks.
If you're into the thrilling and obscure world of 90s van technology and entertainment, you will be very pleased at the potential options. I know nothing about the state of anything beyond checking to see if it turns on or not. These buttons and gizmos look like they have been largely untouched since their glory days and may be as simple as a fuse of something. If you choose to fix them, itstill has the 12v TV, amazing electric couch/bed, at least 2 12v sockets in back, excesive speaker placement, solar control unit, and other little electrical whatnots and luxuries of the day for cruising hard and being very comfortable while doing it.
Captains chairs and the electric, adjustable sofa that turns into a legit bed are set up for extreme napping, with a variety of entertainment and lounge options for never really having to leaving the van at all. It has two little built-in ice coolers for drink, headphone jacks and individual volume controls for all the cassettes you will be rolling from the front, killer mood lights, and your built in TV, which there is an antenna for, but you probably can't use now. The VCR is was taken out, but the connections are all set for one. It even has the original remote.
The windows on the driver side are huge, tinted and have little slots to open with screens (one screen has a small hole), and the others all open out from bottom. Triangle air blasters up front are awesome, and the power windows, seats and locks work.
The back left door and the side left door dont open, I have heard it's an actuator issue or could be another simple fuse thing. Didnt need them so didnt look.
Just bought a new battery one month ago and oil was changed 2 weeks ago before camping trip. Runs and drives great, it is loud and old sounding mainly because the tensioner pulley is loose and rattles. If I were using it for camping trips on the weekends I may have invested $ to spruce it up and run a little smoother but it served my purposes by running and driving and being soft inside.
IMPORTANT: Odometer and several electrical components stopped working approximately 100 miles ago. behind the battery one wiring harness and some wires behind the battery have been affected by heat (we did not know/see it/notice - so dont know Ifwas just heat or a small fire). We only figured this out after radio, cig lighter and odometer stopped working and we checked under hood. I am not handy enough to replace wiring, but we didnt need any of the things that went out so I am selling to someone that wants to fix that. You still have power locks /windows, lights on panels, engine temp, etc.). Odometer stopped at 87,497 about 100 miles ago (we have taken it on 3 camping trips nearby it could have been less miles ago but saying 100 to be safe). Mechanic says to replace the junction box wiring that goes to odometer and it should be fine
AC compressor kicks on and blows air, but it isnt really cold. Could be just a leak or could be from electrical wiring thing. We had a portable ac to use so we never tried to use
Only other problem I have noticed is it leaks coolant and front brake fluid, but I just top them off before driving anywhere/keep some with me. Rear brake fluid does not leak so it didnt worry us too much. Mechanic checkup when we bought told us we were was fine if we kept fluids full, and it has been safe and steady.
No funny business, no scammers. It is sold as is - no returns, or buying without reading and accepting the condition listed and my limited knowledge of info beyond that. It needs to be picked up or shipped by buyer soon after purchase, we aren't using it anymore and we dont have a covered place to park it all winter so, we cant hold it here long. Thanks for looking.
