Here's a special car that not only will Camaro enthusiasts will appreciate, but muscle car fans will as well. This is a professionally restored Z11 Camaro Pace Car replica that is one of 3,675 built to commemorate the '69 Camaro that kept pace at the Indy 500 in May of 1969. All the fine details that set the limited Pace Cars apart are there from the special paint scheme to the cowl induction hood.
Speaking of the special paint scheme, this car has an even more special paint scheme that is extremely close to the original combination. If you look closely in our more than 175 photos of this car, you will notice among other things, that the orange stripes are not just Hugger Orange, they are orange metallic. The body is finished in the correct Dover White (code 50A) which includes the rear panel/tail light section, and the lower body sill. The car was professionally restored with more than 300 hours spent on the body alone. With a look over the exterior, it is evident that an experienced shop carried out the work. Body panels line up as they should, the top is in great condition, chrome and trim is in awesome condition, and the correct 15" Rally wheels finish off the look of the exterior. An interesting tidbit of information about the Z11 cars is that the Indy PaceCar Decals for the doors were not installed by the factory, they were left in the trunk for the new owner to install if they chose to. So to find a car like this one that doesn't have the decals on the doors is not an odd thing.
Another unique feature exclusive to the Pace Car replicas is the combination of being a '69 convertible and having a houndstooth interior. Like the rest of the Pace Car replicas made for the 1969 model year, this particular Camaro is nicely optioned. In addition to that snazzy orange houndstooth interior, wood dash and center console trim and a 'horse-shoe' shifter grab your attention. A console mounted gauge package, factory tachometer, period correct radio, and power top, are other highlights of the tidy interior.
Under the cowl hood, is a 350ci V8 mated to a 3 Speed Automatic transmission. The engine was pulled and professionally rebuilt while the rest of the car was under the knife. A few highlights of the engine build are that it was balanced and blueprinted, a full roller valvetrain was added, and all new bearings were installed. To go along with the upgraded engine, the brakes were upgraded, adding discs in the rear to match the front. Performance shock absorbers and polyurethane bushings were added to the suspension. As you can see with how clean the car and parts are underneath a large number of parts were media blasted and recoated, and a new fuel tank was added.
Whether you're a Camaro enthusiast, or a muscle car fan this extremely clean, restored, true Z11 Pace Car Replica is one to consider for your collection. Only made in limited numbers and finished in a unique and eye catching color combination, this car is sure to keep a smile on your face.
