$85,000 rotisserie restoration by Hendrick's performance. Built to exact original COPO specs. Only 1,550 miles since built.
What is a COPO? Central Office Production Order. 396 was the biggest motor GM allowed in a Camaro but if you were one of the few that had insider info, you could special order a Camaro with the L-72 427-425 hp. This was an unadvertised car, so they were a very limited production. Today they can sell in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. You can't tell this one from an original, even if you check the codes.
EXTERIOR: Outstanding fit and finish, probably better then new. Factory code 72-72 Hugger orange without a vinyl top. All metal, zero rust or damage. Laser straight from every angle. Each panel fits square and flush. The paint is polished like glass. Every piece of trim and chrome is new. All the glass was replaced. The COPO was meant for business, no fancy stripes, spoilers or trim. It does have a functional cowl induction hood that lets fresh air into that monster motor. They didn't even have fancy wheels. This car is accurate with it's painted steel rims and "poverty" caps in mint condition and reproduction Goodyear Polyglass GT tires.
INTERIOR: Restored from carpet to headliner. New door panels, armrests, window cranks and handles. The seats have new cushions, upholstery and plastic backs. Original GM seat belts. New carpet, headliner, visors and mirror. The dash area is all restored. Has a new dash pad, instrument bezel, vents etc. It has the Copo 140 mph speedometer, 8 grand tachometer and rare fuel gauge in the middle. The only luxury feature on the entire car is a deluxe steering wheel.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It actually has a real 427-425 hp eng with 512 casting and it is period correct! Casting date H 20 9= Aug 20th 1969. Completely rebuilt to stock specs. Has correct rectangular port heads and aluminum intake. Has correct fuel lines and Holley carb. The cowl induction air cleaner is complete and functional. It has correct deep groove pulleys so the belts don't fly on high revs. Has stock exhaust manifolds. It even has the heat shields around the spark plugs and correct plug wires. The compartment is like it just rolled off the assembly line, all correct finishes and assembly line markings. Has reproduction GM hoses and clamps. Correct spring clamp battery cables and a Delco battery topper. Has new wire harness, wiper motor, master cylinder etc. It is a heater delete.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Restored to brand new. Paint on the bottom of the trunk lid and the jamb is as slick as the outside of the car. It has new decals, weatherstrip and rubber trunk mat. Has painted orange rim with a Good Year Polyglass tire for a spare. Complete jack assembly looks new. The trunk compartment is all metal and it's been spatter painted and clear coated for durability.
UNDERSIDE: It was flipped on a rotisserie so the bottom could be restored as good as the top. Frame was removed, restored and replaced along with new bushings. All clean, spotless metal painted satin black. Every component is rebuilt and detailed. The front end steering and suspension is all new and detailed in the proper finishes. Rear suspension is all replaced. Bottom of the motor is spotless. Starter is new. Has new Muncie style Auto Gear 4-speed trans. New Hurst linkage. Has 12 bolt rear with 3.73 posi gears. The brake system is entirely replaced- lines, hoses, e-brake assembly etc. Has disc in front. New correct exhaust system with transverse muffler. New fuel system and upgraded stainless tank.
This is an exact copy of a legendary muscle car. The restoration cost more than we are asking. It is turn key ready to drive and enjoy!
