This 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu has a terrific vintage style with just the right amount of subtle upgrades mixed in to make it extra fun. So it's a quite vintage package that also has some unique touches you'll love.
The factory-correct Lemowood Yellow is a great color for a premium 1960s machine. The Malibu had terrific lines for '66 with a well-creased front end that curved around to continue down the full length of the car. And the flying buttress coming off the pillarless hardtop seemed almost European-inspired. So when a design is this special, it's great to have a body that's so straight. This coupe is proudly a premium Malibu, but there's also some Super Sport touches added into the mix. The sporty hood vents and ribbed rockers are borrowed from the SS line. Plus, we especially like the wheel package. It's borrowed from later-generation Malibus, and the black inserts gives you a preview of the interior.
Inside there has been a solid investment in the seats, door panels, carpeting, headliner, and dash to give this a crisp black presentation. An interior this nice means it's easy to share your classic coupe experience with family and friends. The radio has even been upgraded to retro-style AM/FM digital tuner to upgrade the driving music without changing the overall vintage atmosphere. In fact, this coupe is all about the classic atmosphere. So the vintage thin steering wheel feels grippy in your hands, and there's nothing quite like rolling down all the windows to get the breeze flowing through this pillarless hardtop.
Under the hood is a period-correct 283 cubic-inch V8. It keeps a very vintage look with the dark inner walls funneling your attention to the bright orange block in the middle. And there are even nice details, like the Chevrolet-script valve covers and classic air topper. But you'll also spot the right upgrade, like the distributor, that help keep this a strong-running package. The V8 fires up readily and runs smoothly, so it's a good companion for the road. That's why you also have nice driving features, like power steering, a Powerglide automatic transmission, and wide BF Goodrich T/A tires.
This is the crisp-looking icon that ready to hit the road today. So don't miss this deal.
