1961 Chevrolet Corvette Offered as a buy-it-now. Make us an offer!
This exceptional original example is finished in probably the most desirable and tasteful color combination-this car just looks stunning in these colors, with the Silver Coves and Red interior. The car had been driven for the first 10 years of its life and then put on blocks and garaged. A 2 Owner car, the car was purchased in 1998 from Pro Team who had acquired the car from the original owner, by a seasoned Corvette collector. He had Pro Team mechanically recommission and sensitively restore the car. The seller was very careful to preserve the originality of the car cosmetically and had Pro Team perform sensitive restoration work performed including new seat covers, carpet, and new top, prior to taking delivery. He later had the paint addressed due to lots of little scratch marks in the paint, the car was not entirely repainted, however. In 2001 additional work was performed including a new Stainless Steel Exhaust System and Stainless Gas Tank, as well as Radial Tires installed for increased reliability and drivability. A set of Bias Ply Tires accompany the car. The chrome is in very good to excellent condition, the body gaps are consistent, the body is very straight and honest as only an unmolested and well cared for car can be, and the top and interior are in excellent condition as well. All the guages work.
The current owner has enjoyed the car for the last 22 years, but has realized it's time to pass the car on to a new caretaker. The car has been always kept garaged and used on sunny Summer days only during his ownership, and taken to local shows where it has won awards.
Featuring the powerful 270 HP Dual Quad Carburators, feeding the Solid Lifter, High Compression V8, this car is quite a performer, and also quite rare. Options include Power Windows, Radio and Heater, Positraction, Anti Hop Straps, and Performance Exhaust. The car runs without fault and is ready to be driven cross country today.
This is one of those special cars that has been appreciated throughout its entire life-it has been a treasured and respected companion to both its owners, and has held a special place in both their hearts.
This is a rare opportunity to acquire a well cared for Dual Quad C1 Corvette in a stunning and desirable color combination with a known history in turn key condition. Does it really get any better than that?

The Chevrolet Corvette is an Icon, one of the most desirable collector cars of all time, and one of the must haves for any collection. Produced beginning in 1953, and substanially updated in 1955, the first series lasted until 1963. This series with its side coves and v8 engine is one of the most hotly sought after of all Corvettes. Chevy stated in their brochure for 1961: "Take a classic sports car. Give it tasteful new styling. That's Corvette in 1961. Starting with the sleek rear deck, it's clean, uncluttered. From this point forward, it becomes obvious this new Corvette was designed to be driven. No matter what the occasion - black tie or tennis shoes - Corvette is appropriate. If you're an enthusiastic rallyist, an about-towner, a countryside explorer or all three, Corvette matches your mood'.
Corvette styling was substantially upgraded in 1961. Although enthusiasts at the time did not know it, they were being given a sneak peak of things to come. The rear would carry over to 1963, which would be a pivotal year in Corvette history. The "ducktail" design (below) of the 1961 (and '62) with its four tail lights would be known as "transitional" years. The exhaust now exited below the body and not via an opening in the bumper as in previous years. Body colored headlight bezels began to replace the chrome of 1960. The Corvette style was softened somewhat by the removal of the "teeth" in the grill. Sun visors, an aluminum radiator, parking brake warning lamp, interior lights and the windshield washer were standard equipment. The four speed transmission featured an aluminum case.
