Interiorfully restored interior EngineMotivating this real-deal Super Sport is an exclusive L79 V8 that, according to the factory, twists stout 11 to 1 compression into 350 Corvette-matching horsepower. Savvy collectors will quickly locate the 327's correct 3782870 casting number. Casual observers will be quick to notice the mill's L79-exclusive polished, twin-snorkel air cleaner. And everyone will start to vibe when air and fuel flow from a big Holley carburetor in to a hot Winters intake that's framed by high-flow cylinder heads! That air/fuel mixture meets spark thanks to Packard Radio TVRS cables, which crawl around polished, 327-branded valve covers on their way to a correct points distributor. Spent gases fall in to old school cast iron exhaust manifolds. There's a vintage radiator that joins a Chevelle-spec alternator, a Kleer View water bottle and a Delco-topped battery to round out the car's first-rate ancillaries. Details like polished fuel lines, a polished oil filler, an AC fuel filter and a correct GM water neck create a distinct sense of authenticity. And, when it comes to keeping up appearances, the tagged engine compartment is clean, attractive and ready to roll, all the way from its Chevy Orange block to its glossy black fenders!
Fully sorted and ready to cruise, this authentic code 138 drop-top recently benefitted from a thorough, frame-off restoration. Under the car's correct Regal Red 2-stage, an incredibly straight fuselage features solid panels that, with the exception of their recent massage, have led a quiet, drama-free existence. By the end of that massage, those panels featured better-than-factory alignment and, when opened and closed, sounded firm and functioned exceptionally well. And today, this glossy Chevy is one fantastic looking hot rod that parks just as well as it plays!
For 1965, the top-of-the-line Malibu SS utilized a classy appearance and unique trim pieces to distinguish itself from Chevrolet's working class 300 and mid-level Malibu offerings. At the front of this clean classic, a correct grille centers a small Chevrolet crest and correct T3 headlights between fresh “CHEVROLET†lettering, a guarded bumper and amber parking lamps. At the sides of the car, cross-flag “327†emblems and small “Malibu SS†scripts hint at an upscale personality while traditional door handles and bowtie-branded mirrors perfectly complement straight wheel lips and textured rocker guards. At the top of the car, a finned hood leads the eye to fresh stainless frames, which trace like-new glass under correct White vinyl. And at the back of the car, a black-trimmed valence hangs a second round of “CHEVROLET†lettering between clean taillights, a third “Malibu SS†script, clear reverse lamps and a second guarded bumper.
