Up for bid is a 1972 Chevrolet Suburban Ambulance custom designed by Modular Ambulance Corporation of Dallas, TX - Zephyr 54 conversion. It has a Chevrolet 350 engine out of a 90s model pickup truck that runs perfectly - also has what appears to be a TH400 non-overdrive automatic transmission. The engine runs flawlessly with a Summit Racing aluminum intake, a Summit four barrel carburetor, and a chrome Summit air cleaner. Also equipped with an Accel HEI super coil. This ambulance has factory air conditioning, and although it is not currently operational, the compressor turns freely and is ready for it's new owner to service. Also features power steering and disc brakes on the front. The dual exhaust sounds great! Lowered with what appears to be dropped spindles in the front with lowering blocks in the rear. 15" BF Goodrich TA radials all around with less than 2000 miles on them. The interior appears to be original. There is currently no radio installed but it appears to have cut outs for speakers in the rear area if you choose to install a new stereo. Included with the vehicle is the original stretcher to complete the authenticity! This ambulance was also featured in the 2015 film Woodlawn, The paint is fair - it is showing its age with some stress cracks in the fiberglass roof as shown in the pictures. Unfortunately the lights and siren are not functional at this time. I have driven this vehicle on half a dozen road trips of 400+ miles and it hits the road perfect - the engine runs cool, the transmission shifts perfectly, and it draws attention everywhere it goes.
