1990 Chevrolet Caprice 9C1. Condition is Used. Low Reserve! This is the very last box Caprice used by the LA Sheriff's Dept/LASO/LASD, and likely all of southern CA, if not the entire nation for that matter. It was purchased just a small handful of years ago as the very last box Caprice the agency had in their possession and was still being used by County Probation. Hence, it was sold with it's LASO full cage (the EXACT style they used for man, many years), but also it's full radio system, including the 'brains' to it in the trunk (the wires were merely cut). Only the siren and the steady red light that pulled down from under the passenger side sun-visor were removed. Includes both fully working original factory S-6 Unity Metal spotlights, as well as it's original 1st aid kit bolted down in the trunk, which is full still. Full size spare wheel and original Goodyear Eagle RSA pursuit tire is also in the trunk.
This vehicle runs like new, and in fact is somehow revved up to run faster than any 9C1 box I ever owned or drove (and I drove them in-service brand new back to the 1986 model). It can even hold close to any 94-96 LT1 model believe it or not. The transmission is better than new as I personally knew a transmission shop owner that rebuilt it to 'better spec' with improved internal components. It is the orig #s matching tranny, but yes, rebuilt better! (I not only have the receipt for this work, but pieces of the parts replaced in the transmission so I can even show you). In fact, have every service receipt that I have spent $ o, which numbers in the several many of thousands, aside from the transmission . It has all full synthetic fluids from oil, transmission, rear end, and brake fluid (DOT 5) always flushed and fresh since I have owned it. (Vehicle had close to 100K on it when I obtained it). If anyone knows LASO, they are not only the agency that introduced the Nova 9C1 (they still have one), but they were known for mainly driving and preferring anything Chevrolet..Malibus, Impalas, and every year of the Caprices..They kept many of their last Caprices as long as they could, even putting in new engines, transmissions, and interiors in order not to drive a Ford (I can personally relate).I have new OEM seat fabric installed for the front seats (split bench as LASO and LAPD had, it has full vinyl rear, and I did the headliner and both sunvisors new OEM fabric as well, in planning to restore to LASO spec. The interior is near perfect without even a tear, or heel wear mark in the original rubber floor. Vehicle was originally all white unmarked. However, the LASO transferred it to LA County Probation where it spent the later part of its street duty and tenure (it even has LA Probation typed into the rear inner portion of the rear plate with their phone number). LA County vehicle unit number is written in a few areas on the vehicle such as the door jam and gas tank refill area as well. LA County actually tinted all of the windows (except the front) quite dark. I kept it...
The AC and heat work perfec, far better than new in fact. (LA County changed over to R-134 for better or worse). Vehicle shifts FAR better than new. The only problem is that it has some dents, scratche, dings and cross hatch bad paint in portions such as the roof. It was a cheap paint job the county placed over the all white without prepping it properly. (They did actually paint all of the door jams and even inside the trunk lid). Someone in LA even keyed one side for most of the length of both doors (imagine that). I planned on making it all white again, or even a black and white for LASO, but have far too many cars, especially 9C1s and man, many Caprices that I just can no longer keep due to not even spending much time in CA anymore. Most of my 'fleet' is there in what many have dubbed 'Caprice Land' (I have many models ranging from 1981-1996). This is a CA car, always been in CA. This one is not in MN with me, so if the buyer wants it back east then they need to arrange transportation. (However, I personally would not hesitate to drive this vehicle anywhere, as well as across country). Also advise when you will be in CA so I can meet you and properly see the car off.It has brand new tires 225/70/15 in the front and slightly larger (still within spec) in the rear. This combination works amazingly great for traction in inclement weather, esp the rain we get in Central to N. CA. (Yes, I finally just took of the original Eagle RSAs on this one as they were getting quite bald). Has brand new front bumper filler and rear bumper quarter panel fillers (they come in black now and not the original OEM GM that were silver). I also just took the time-consuming, VERY pain-staking job of doing ALL of the window rubber sweeps both inside and outside all of the doors, as well as weather strip glass seals . Again, this vehicle merely needs paint for a full restoration! It has the top of line (for its time) OEM Caprice AM/FM radio with cassette deck and even built-in equalizer. This did NOT come with the vehicle as this type of factory stereo was reserved for the 'high end trim' family civilian Caprices only. I planned on taking this out prior to the sale, UNLESS the buyer adamantly wants it. This vehicle had a stock wood grain radio delete plate that had radio mic mounting holes and even silly stickers placed on it. It wasn't worth keeping in my estimation at the time. Now I see how many want those radio delete plates (and I can relate as I had one a heck of a time locating one for a Malibu 9C1!). But the one in this vehicle was not in great shape at all and there are lower end OEM radios that were used in the 9C1s available still. (Many patrol cars from S. CA to the Bay just literally had an empty hole there, only functional for placing trash in).The only issues this vehicle has besides needing paint and body for a proper restoration, is that the engine water temp gauge is broken out of the 3 factory gauges (2 work perfect). This was common on the 1990 models for some reason and not the 89 (?!). It also smokes some upon cold star, as well under a good throttle. The 5.7 ltr/350 cid runs very smooth though and the oil stays remarkably clean upon checking it frequently. (no leaks either). I have life-time Collector MN plates on it (different from the reg ones pictured). Vehicle does not have electric windows or seats (less likely to break!)***Fake eBay accts, fraudulent or hacked accts, dead peoples accts and phone numbers- PLEASE look elsewhere. I am prior law enf over 30 years and I personally have eBay staff and authorities looking into you ALL of late, so go bid on a banal import or something more non-descript for your insipid lives.***
