Car description

1976 Chevy Chevette "Woody" project car. I just picked this up a couple months ago with big intentions, but life has thrown a couple curve-balls since, and I need to "thin the herd" quite a bit. I'm now sitting on 6 old cars, and I need to sell a couple of them. This first year Chevette has a great combination of options, rare for a Chevette. It's the one-year-only "Woody" model with the "bigger" 1.6 Litre engine, Roof rack, Air Conditioning (though compressor is MIA), AM/FM radio, Clock, Custom Interior, and more. And it's a 4 speed manual!! (thankfully not an automatic). Believed to have 110,xxx miles (5-digit Odometer shows 10,xxx).Before I brought it home, it hadn't run in a long time, sitting for nearly ten years. I drained the old fuel, and replaced the original junk carb with a working used carb from a different '76 Chevette. Installed a battery, and it fired up and now runs after all these years. It does move under it's own power (forward and reverse), I've "driven" it back and forth down the driveway, but it is NOT roadworthy. It needs brakes, and by that I mean it has NO brakes, none. Brake pedal goes right to the floor. NOT drive-able. Was planning to change the belts/hoses/filters and all fluids, but didn't get to that point. It's a project, It needs work. Photos show that the driver's side has had work done to it at some point: Gone is it's "woody" siding and it was re-painted (poorly) on that side. Underneath shows that both front floor pans have had some tin patched into them at some point and yes there is some rust under there (it is a Chevette in the Midwest after-all), though I have seen far worse. Obviously the interior could use some help too, although it's certainly serviceable as it is. Not being able to drive the Chevette, leaves questions as to the state of the other mechanical systems, but as already stated, the brakes need work.Clean, "Open" Minnesota title.
