Car description |

I first acquired this cool truck in New York State around 2012 and it has been the source of so many great experiences. Every trip it gets attention even if just at the gas station. It drives super nicely, runs on the highway well, and is simply a great truck that was made when metal was metal! It is a seriously well made body. The natural sun-driven patina has been protected, it shows no signs of rust or oxidation beyond how it was intended when it was restored as somewhat of a "rat rod" and it is licensed and on the road regularly as our personal ride. There are no special tricks to it - no hold your foot this way and shake something that way to get it going. This car just starts and drives.
The front dual glass is in good shape other than a micro chip on one side. Both side windows have a crack. As many know, parts for the 53 Chevy are plentiful (including the side windows) with essentially every component on this truck easily ordered online. The headliner is worn but good - but I can imagine some people might want to replace door seals and things like that. Personally, I am not interested in doing so because I like it the way it is and also, somewhere you draw the line and say (as I did), this is a fun inexpensive ride that brings me great joy but I might feel different about it if I started pouring money in to upgrade this, or replace that when it is a great driving pickup truck that gets plenty of attention and is thoroughly dependable as it is right now.
This1953 ChevyC3100 pickup features the original inline overhead valve, six-cylinder Thriftmaster 216.5 cubic-inchengine. Its bore and stroke is 3.5 inches by 3.75 inches, with a compression ratio of 6.6:1. It generated 84 net horsepower at 3,400 rpm. Its maximum torque rating was 170 pound-feet at 1,000 to 2,000 rpm. The truck runs nicely, the three on a tree shifts perfectly, the clutch is great, reverse is sensational, the lights, heat/blower, even the vacuum driven wipers all operate and we use it almost every day during the summer for something - usually a run into town (we live in a country house). Rear signals have been added for compliance and safety. Might need a new muffler soon though - or at least a repair. Press the starter and this truck is ready to drive. It is currently licensed and on the road near Toronto, Canada - though in storage at this time on account of the winter!
It was upgraded to a 12v battery and the alternator ought to be upgraded as well. At the moment, once a month I put it on an overnight trickle charger to be sure it has a full charge. That might be on the to-do list for a new owner but I don't think especially necessary.
This car will not disappoint. Shipping must be arranged by the purchaser (though I can help and there are options to anywhere in the world), payment must be in full prior to any delivery and payment is by cleared money order, e-transfer, PayPal or cash. Deposit of $2,000 immediately on a successful bid and full payment required within 7 days. Ownership is clean and clear and the truck comes with title papers. The actual mileage is unknown - the speedo is not working.
