1979 Corvette L-82 turbo. Very nice condition. nbsp;runs great. body is straight. paint is shiny with no chips or cracks. Interior is clean with nice carpet. tires are like new. A/C. mirrored t tops. spoiler package. tape deck. tilt telescopic wheel. power windows. power brakes. power steering. rear defrost. This corvette has the martin/ray jay turbo charging system on it which is one of the turbo systems used in '79 on the GM experimental corvettes. To look at this engine and turbo charger system. it has all aged equally as if to say that the turbo charger has been on the car since it was built. GM did many things in the past that have not been published or well documented. I have no documentation on this car to prove it is an experimental car. however. everybody that sees it believes the turbo charger was installed when the car was built. The magazine cover I included a picture of is dated June 4th 1979 and comes with the car. It runs very well. it does not burn any oil. the underneath of the car (frame. chassis. ) is very clean. There is only light surface rust here and there. All the steel structures by the front & rear bumpers are very sound. Don't know if mileage is correct. but shows as a low mile car. A lot of people will argue that all turbo corvettes built from this era were Duntov only. not true. The Duntov Turbo Corvette was a collaboration between American Custom Industries (ACI) and Zora Arkus-Duntov following Zora’s retirement from General Motors in 1975. The Duntov Turbo Corvette should not be confused with the 1979 Turbo Corvette and the 1980 Turbo Corvette. both of which were General Motors prototypes. General Motors did not participate in either the design or the manufacture of the Duntov Turbo as both were the responsibility of ACI. GM did at first use a carburetor with there pressurized turbo system that was blowing the seals out of the carburetors. then experimented with a draw through carbureted system (Martin) that worked. Yes this system was available in kit form in 1979 as well. After this they were fuel injected. This could very well be an opportunity to own one of GM's experimental cars from 1979. Weather it is a GM experimental Corvette or not. it is a great turbo charged L-82 Corvette for a cheap price.
