Car description |
---|
Up for bid is my numbers matching 1973 Corvette Base Coupe. The car has AC, PB, PS, 4 speed transmission, cloth seats, 350 cubic inch 190 hp L-48 engine, luggage rack, and T-tops with storage bag.Condition:The Corvette has 91,300 miles. There is no rust in the bird cage. The underneath is very clean. The car has been garage kept since I bought it in 2015, and it has never been in the rain or snow. The interior is immaculate. All gauges operate the way they should, except for the clock. The engine compartment is clean. The body is straight and body panel gaps are true. In my opinion, the paint is a 7-8 out of 10 (a ‘5 footer’). Paint finish is bright and clean. The car was repainted about 8 years ago, before I owned the car, and it is not the original orange for the 1973 year. I think it may be an orange color for a later model GM car. I personally like this car's orange better. To the best of my knowledge, all main engine components are original except for the carburetor.
Overall, I think this is a very good example of a 1973 Corvette. It's a blast to drive, and has been well taken care of by myself, my mechanics and its previous owners. When I take it to car shows, I always get positive comments on its condition and appearance.
New Parts and Repairs:I've owned the Corvette for +4 years (approximately 400 miles) and during that time, I've had the following work performed:The originalbumpers have been re-chromedNew front lower spoilerNew BF Goodrich Radial T/A tiresNew rear window seal (the old seal did not leak. I did not like the appearance of the old seal)New front grillesNew rear light lensesNew digital AM/FM radio w/MP3 cable and new front speakers (old GM radio/speakers included)New rubber window/door sealsNew control arms and bushingsNew AC compressor clutch and recharged AC systemNew ignition switchNew door sill platesNewrubberair cleaner-to-hood sealRequired engine maintenance including oil changes, air filter and tune up
Included in the Sale:Included in the sale is a car cover, new rubber floor mats (including a set of carpeted floor mats), old and new spare parts, car repair receipts going back to the 1980's, and all repair manuals, including the car assembly manual.
Existing Issues with the car:There is a small oil leak underneath (but most of the C3's have this). The location of the leak is at the back of the motor. The car had that leak when I bought it, and it's not a show-stopper (in my opinion). In addition, I do not have the key to the security system lock on the back of the car. The clock does not work, but it does keep the correct time twice a day. The 'Door Ajar' dash light occasionally comes on (I have the door part to fix that).
Payment:Please don't bid/offer on the car if you don't intend to buy it!I'm not looking for a trade! The winning bidder should be in communication with me within 48 hours of the end of the auction. A $500 deposit will be required at that time. Arrangements will be made at the end of the auction as to how that deposit will be received. The remainder of the monies must be made within 5 days after the end of the auction. If the balance is not received, deposit monies will be returned and the car will be relisted. Balance will be made by certified or cashier's check. Once all of the preliminary arrangements and money has been paid, the buyer can pick up the car, or they can arrange with a transporter of his/her choice to transport the car. All items related to the car will be included in the car and will be shipped with the car.
I'm asking that all bidders are of the age 18 and older, and please, no dealers or wholesalers!
I'm selling the Corvette to make room for another car project, and I need space in the garage.
I encourage all interested parties to come to Raleigh, NC to inspect the car and to take the car for a test ride. The Corvette is sold without any warranty. Bidders will be responsible for inspecting the car for themselves or by a designated inspector of their choosing (at the bidders cost, of course). I feel I have represented the car to the best of my ability.
If you live outside the Raleigh NC area, I recommend a covered carrier to transport the Corvette to your location if you win the auction. It will be the winning bidder's responsibility to arrange transport from Raleigh to their location.
Please look at the pictures. If you have any questions I'll be happy to answer any question/concern that you may have.
I am advertising the car locally, so I may remove this ad at any time.
