FULLY DOCUMENTED
1972 Chevrolet El Camino SS 402 big block, 4 speed, Posi, Power Steering, Power Brakes with Air Conditioning.
As you just read this El Camino SS was fully loaded with options. But what makes this vehicle even more special is the complete numbers matching drivetrain, the factory build sheet and dealer warranty card with matching dealer tag emblem.
You rarely ever find an original car of this age with this amount of documentation especially in the forum of a big block 4 speed SS!
The engine is running, complete and has 92,038 original miles. It’s never been apart, all dates and numbers match. The engine even still has ALL of the factory smog equipment intact!
Any serious collector will want to rebuild/go through and paint this running drivetrain. As it is the engine needs a tune-up and the clutch feels very weak.
When is the last time you saw a factory SS big block with all smog equipment in place? You haven’t, lol
1972 was the first year for Chevrolet to add a letter designated for the factory engine size in the VIN number - U code = 402
Finding an El Camino with a factory 4 speed is another option that you rarely find. The desirable color combination, 4 speed and the air conditioning makes this car extremely likely to be 1 of 1 built.
This car was ordered in Ascot blue Irid, white vinyl top, black interior and hood stripe delete. We added the SS hood stripes.
The bed floor, rear floor and rear cab panel were professionally replaced. The front section of the floor is original however it has had some patches welded in, we felt it was best to retain as much original sheet metal as possible. The top side of the floor is beautiful, the bottom side of the car will need clean-up/finishing. The floor could look a little nicer on the bottom side where to patches were welded in.
The exterior paint job looks nice, although it has some blemishes, I would consider this a driver quality paint job.
The seat upholstery and dash pad look great! No cracks in the dash. With a headliner, carpet and detailing this interior would be finished.
We have taken this car as far as we would like to, as we have many other projects to finish. It’s your job now to rebuild and beautify the drivetrain, brakes and underside of the car.
Finishing this project will be a simple task for most classic car enthusiasts.
Message me with your phone number and I can send you video of the engine running. I also have MANY other photos that I will be happy to send you.
