Awesome colors and awesome big block power give extra desire to an already lust-worthy 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454. So dig into all the details on this well-done classic hardtop.
Code 78 Black Cherry is a terrific factory-correct color to have on a Chevelle SS. After all, it looks like someone combined the boldness of red and the intimidation of black. It only gets better on a coupe like this where there's a well-coordinated darkness in the details. It's believed to be true Super Sport, and you have the correct blacked-out grille and rear panel. Plus, you also have the dual racing stripes finished in black, and it even still carries the factory-correct black vinyl roof. And on top of this are all the pieces that make the Chevelle look like a true muscle car icon, like the super scoop cowl hood, hood pins, and the Mag-style SS wheels.
All that black on the outside also gets you ready for a full blackout interior. And not only does the darkness look great in a muscle machine, but also it's part of the full factory-correct color package. There's a high degree of originality here, and even the items that were likely recently replaced (like the speedometer and AM/FM radio) were done with correct items, so the whole car feels like a time capsule. It has all the right features for a driver's machine, too, including high-back bucket seats, center console with horseshoe shifter, and full U14 gauge package with large tach. So we know you're just imagining rolling down all the windows on this hardtop and going for a drive.
It's always great to see a Chevelle engine bay with proper big block power. And this one is ready to show off with a crisp look that has the bold block, bright valve covers, and matching air topper all radiating from within the darkness. This 454 cubic-inch V8 is built with the right go-fast goodies, like Merlin heads, a four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, and long tube headers that add power while contributing to the growl of the dual exhaust. You've even got nice supporting components for this big V8, like the Miledon oil pan and an aluminum radiator. This is a strong-runnier, and the stout TH400 three-speed automatic transmission feeds a 12-bolt rear end. So this knows how to bring the power to the pavement. Plus, you have power steering, power brakes w/discs up front, and upgraded trailing arms in the rear.
This Chevelle has the look and power you've been after for so long. That's why you know you can't let this hardtop slip away.
