This beautiful car is a two owner vehicle that has been owned by our client since 1985. The curvy first generation Corvettes are awesome cruisers, great investments, and a fixture in American pop culture much like baseball, apple pie, or a malt with a cherry on top. Speaking of a cherry on top, the cherry red upholstery paired with the white exterior on this classic Vette are a stunning combination.
A complete body off restoration was completed a number of years ago, as commissioned by our client. Dave Stark of Oil City Michigan began the restoration process, and Larry Bartlett of Midland Michigan finished the car. So often, we see the 'coves' aft of the front wheels finished in a contrasting color than that of the main body color. We really like the look of the single color finish of this car, it really makes the body styling, and chrome trim 'pop'. Speaking of the trim, all of it is in beautiful condition from tip to tail. The matching white soft top is in beautiful condition, but hopefully any miles put on this car are with the top down!
Although the car had a body-off restoration, the interior is original. It's really impressive to see a car of this vintage that still has the original interior. As you can see in the photos, there are a few little flaws here and there, but the fact that it's original and in such good condition is something special. Finding an unrestored interior in such a gorgeous, presentable '58 Corvette is certainly a rarity these days. Behind the wheel of this Corvette, cruising down the road is a great place to be! The red upholstery and the white exterior are a stunning combination for this classic car!
The one-year only louvered hood hides a 283ci V8 mated to a 4-speed transmission. Being a 245 horsepower V8, the engine is in the middle of the engine range that Corvette offered for the '58 model year. The power plant is numbers matching, and was rebuilt during the restoration process. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 3.73 rear end.
Things change over the years, especially since 1958. You can't buy a malt (with a cherry on top) for 25 cents anymore, or buy gas at 24 cents per gallon, but the place in pop culture history for the beautiful first generation Corvette will always be there. The 'cherry on top' is the fact that this awesome classic is very valuable, and it doesn't look like that will change any time too soon.
