I’m regrettably offering up for sale my 1962 Chevrolet Corvair 95 Rampside Pickup. It’s a rare, unique and desirable vehicle that is a real attention getter. They were sold by Chevrolet from 1961-1965. It was in service at Speaker’s Mobil Station in Lebanon, Missouri on Route 66 from 1962-1979.
This specific vehicle is extremely original. It’s showing 59,137 miles on the odometer. Since it would have been serviced at the station, there was no paperwork and there for nothing to verify the mileage. While it obviously had pretty good usage, Lebanon’s population at the time was 8000 people. It’s primary use was probably running for parts and shuttling customers. So who knows. The paint is original, with hand painted and signed by the artist (see photo) on both door panels..They are a few areas that show some touch up, but it appears to have never been in a serious accident. While the term is vastly overused, it has a legitimate, gorgeous patina. It is primarily rust free, which may be as a result of the lengthyindoor storage. There is a minor area of rust on the drivers side bed rocker panel. Perhaps, since it appears on only one side, it was parked against the station, and roof runoff caused it? The interior is all original, but the seat has been redone.
So it was in service at the Station from 1962 until 1979 when the station closed. It was stored in the Station from 1979-2006. At that time it was purchased from the Speaker’s by a long time Lebanon resident for his small indoor collection (photo). Then in 2014 I bought it from him. So basically it was off of the road and indoors for 35 years.
The Speaker Brothers were pretty much of a fixture in Lebanon, Missouri..They opened their first Station in 1923, which corresponds to the opening of Route 66. Their last station closed on 1979. There is a photo of that station from the mid eighties. From what I understand, it is still standing. There are also photos of an artist’s rendering of the Station, as well as a magazine ad that used an image of the station.
So I have an opening bid of $8,500.00 with NO RESERVE. A $500 PayPal deposit is required within 24 hours, and a full cash payment of the balance is due in 7 days. Local pickup only. Anyone with less than10 feedbacks or new ebay account must contact me prior to bidding. Since it is a 57 year old vehicle it is sold as is. Amazingly the motor runs, does not burn oil or have any unusual noise emanating from it. That’s as much as I know about the engine, again since there is no paper trail. It actually sounds really good. I have driven it a few times. If you plan on driving it regularly, it obviously would need to be gone through. If you have less than 10 feedbacks, please contact me before bidding.
Thank you for looking!
