1967 Chevrolet Chevelle
Like the Tri-Five Chevys that came before it, the Chevelle is one of those cars GM aced right out of the gate and continued to perfect. Eventually, the marque became one of the strongest brands in automotive history; and at one point, with a full list of body styles, options, trim grades, color combinations, and engines which ranged from mild to outrageous, literally embodied the 'custom built' nature that defines the muscle car era.
For consignment, a nice looking and good performing Chevrolet Chevelle from 1967. Consigner states that this engine has been bored and stroked to 383ci. Very good condition overall, some Cragar wheels, a nice stance, and we have the makings of a restored classic.
Exterior
Bolero Red covers this car on the paint front and is a nicely done paint job. A few areas of some orange peel and heavy spray are noted, but it occurs sporadically throughout. Nicely preserved chrome and trim very shiny and mirror-like is noted on the bumpers, rocker trim and lower trim belt, which is slightly misaligned on the doors. The deep B pillars frame the trunk and the rear window which is surrounded by good brite-work. On the rear of this car are corner wrap around taillights that have a black panel connecting the two sides running directly below the trunk. Large twin chromed tail pipe tips protrude from below the rear bumper. Cragar 15-inch 5 spoke wheels are on all four corners.
Interior
A long black split bench glides between pristine black horizontal ribbed door panels and is in very nice condition. The rear bench follows suit with no stains or rips. An original GM inverted V style dash is up front and has the speedometer fuel gauge and clock inserted in an area with wood applique' above, and black metal below. A few aftermarket gauges in the form of a trio under the clock, and a single large tachometer below the heater control levers is seen. Black carpet is in clean and nice condition, and the headliner is just nice and tight.
Drivetrain
A 350ci V8 which consigner states has been bored to a 383ci is within a nicely restored engine bay. Complete with orange Chevrolet block and heads, and chromed bowtie badged valve covers and some metal ribbed tubing, we are looking just dandy on the engine front. We are just as good for the performance front with an Edelbrock Performer intake and Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor. A TH350 3-speed automatic is on the back of this engine and it throws power back to a 10-bolt rear. All gaskets within the engine have been replaced recently, and there are no leaks now to speak of.
Undercarriage
Some surface rust to note, and unfortunately the frame has sustained damage from invasive rust on the rear of this car. In this same area the trunk pan is seen experiencing some rusting as well. Power disc brakes in front and power drums for the rear can be seen underneath.
Drive-Ability
This car started quickly and ran nicely. All functions worked well, and it has great acceleration and handling. The interior had plenty of room and was definitely comfortable. It would be a great cruiser on a long drive. An earlier restoration but paint remains shiny and deep, mechanicals are solid, and interior is very nicely preserved. Definitely worth a look, and a really great year for the iconic Chevelle.
