1976 Nova Medalist Medalists were only built in 76 as a tribute to the 76 Olympic games. they came with every factory option and they came in either the "gold" package-350. H350. . 93 rear. and all factory options; or the more rare "silver" package-6 cylinder. TH200. . 92 rear. and all factory options except power windows and locks. this one was a silver custom ordered from Murphy Cadillac-Pontiac-GMC in Spartanburg SC(I have the original key tag) with the 350 motor and TH350 auto trans. In reality there is no real difference from a regular nova but because its such a rare package. if it is brought back to its original paint and trim(with the red stripes down side) its worth way more than any SS. I have had this car for around 2 years. I am the third owner. the previous two owners lived in Spartanburg. SC(where the car is from originally) The original owner gave it to his nephew. who I got it from on a trade) the car sat in a garage for most of its life. until the nephew received it lived outside for a few years. causing minor surface rust. he then spray painted the exterior and left it sitting when it stopped running. He didn’t know much about motors so when we traded I trailered it home. and it wasn’t getting any spark so I pulled the relay from the distributor and it fired up that day. and in that instant it became my daily driver so I could figure out what else was wrong with it. Nothing else was wrong with it. so I began the body work. After de-rusting the entire outside of the car and painting it. I began to daily drive it again until I hit another snag. the camshafts from ’76 cars typically have problems due to manufacturing inconsistencies and it started to lose #4 Exhaust Lobe. and began to run a little rough. so I parked it. And eventually re-painted and rebuilt it. More info below. I believe in the “when something breaks. it’s a good time to upgrade” saying. The car has been garaged through both winters ive owned it. and covered when im not driving it. I do realize the windshield wipers arent on it in the pictures. but they are on it now. they still work. all turn signals work(but the bulb is out for the left directional in the dash) the heater and AC both work. hazards work. everything is currently functional but the radio. Engine/Underhood: 350 small block: I rebuilt the motor 1500 miles ago after the stock cam lost cyl #4 exhaust lobe which is due to poor manufacturing of the camshafts. I inspected the block. bearings and the cylinder walls and they were all in great shape. I could clearly see the reflection of my fingers in the cylinder walls. no scuffs or scarring Lunati Voodoo Cam . 478/. 488 lift and 292 Duration Lunati Lifters and new Pushrods(I don’t remember what brand) Vortec heads 64CC chambers. 1. 50/1. 94 valves I believe-53k miles on them before I got them. HEI Distributor 65k coil. rated to 7500RPM New Carb Rochester 4BBl. about 750Cfm now. superstock drag cars have to use these carbs and they have the potential flow over 850Cfm with minor jetting Procomp polished aluminum intake manifold New wires and plugs New starter- has a little trouble with hot starts due to the longtubes being so close. a heat shield can be made and installed in a few hours(people use aluminum flashing from lowes) but it still starts every time. hot or cold. Newer and Bigger than stock radiator(it overheated on me one time so it got a new 160 degree thermostat and radiator-I later replaced the 160 with a “failsafe” 192 because it made more power at 192 degrees than it did at 160) Every single gasket is brand new Chrome valve covers and timing chain cover New air cleaner true dual exhaust. older aftermarket 1 7/8" longtube headers into 2 1/2" pipe with a muffler on the end of each one. can be ran out the side or straight out the back for about $100 at any exhaust shop. I bought a new tach also but haven't installed it in the car but it does work I used it to break in the camshaft and heads. Factory Heat & A/C car which adds 10% to the blue book. as well as power disc brakes and power steering from the factory which is another 10-15%. Drained and re-filled the radiator and gave it an oil change yesterday. so the camshaft break in is officially complete. (one oil change after 500 miles. another after 1000. and then it goes back to the normal 3000 miles) Transmission: TH350 Turbo 3spd auto; B&M shift kit. Shifts incredibly smooth. never had a reason to mess with it other than the shift kit. Body: The body has been stripped to bare metal and painted a few times since I've owned it (couldn't decide on a color. first it was gray and black) and I just painted it again this time it's Single Stage Boulevard Black. done in the same paint that these cars were painted from the factory(Dual stage paint was not introduced until 1982 on the Corvette). The door jambs are black. but the underside of the trunk and hood are the “dove gray”. It has been undercoated also. New tires only roughly 7k miles and a few burnouts on them! haha. I've replaced: the mirrors door handles-inside and outside and new window cranks and lock pulls weatherstripping and window felt taillight housings-could use new lenses. (small white spot on the right one from a light burn) headlights-xenon H4 conversion so no more dull 7" bulbs-ready for HIDs. new bulbs all the way around and I have a LED 552 flasher if you want LED bulbs all the way around. The trunk does not have a mat in it. I have rhinolined the trunk pan after treating it for rust. Interior: The seats about a year and a half old. but look brand new. In the past 6 months I have only sat in/driven it a handful of times to break in the cam/ as well as a few cruises. They are charcoal leather benches(front and rear). a new dome light housing. everything else is original(even the carpet). The rear decklid could use to be replaced. or simply re-covered and there are 2 cracks in the dash. Very small amount of rust in the ash tray but everything else is rust free. Original radio is in it. but not wired up to the speaker in the rear. or the speaker is blown. i dont know. it wasnt important to me. This car is in well above average condition already but is worth $9000 in "average" condition(currently insured at 13k). I've spent countless hours on this car. and put plenty of money into it. it's nearly 100% and makes enough power to put a smile on your face but not so much that would make it unsuitable for daily driving. it does fairly well on fuel for a car of its age engine size and mods; about 15-17mpg. stock heads. intake manifold. and cam(though this part is no good) will all come with the car as well as 2 complete sets of wheels caps. have six total of the chrome rings pictured. as well as 4 Medalist rally caps that could be polished to shine. i just prefer the rings myself. Mechanically its 10/10 I just drove it 120 miles the other day at interstate speed (70-75)without a problem i hate seeing the Odometer go up on this car. The body is 9. 5/10 Interior 9/10 I'd give the paint job a solid B+/A-
