On Nov-03-19 at 19:06:30 PST, seller added the following information:1971 Chevy Short Wheel base shorty van. Same as G10 with heavy duty suspension and larger brakes. So Cal truck from day 1. Was originally purchased by US Military, as noted by tag on dash, and vin number it is titled and registered with. Has normal GM VIN and tags on truck, nothing removed or modified. Van is completely original and not modified in anyway other than an electric fuel pump added at rear to prime mechanical pump when sitting a while, and factory front seats were replaced with swivel captains chairs at some point.
Original back seat had been removed and kept in storage is in really good shape. arm rests were removed, but included as seen in pictures. Floor board has many different places to mount seats. You can add third row seat behind the bench in there, or move the one in there back fro more leg room.
Engine has never been removed from the van, although the heads were re-done to run on unleaded fuel. I do not believe anything else has been done to engine. Engine and transmission work fine, but would probably need attention as I don't think they have ever been rebuilt. Engine oil and filter replaced, as well as transmission oil and filter. Engine and transmission do not leak. Master cylinder also replaced. Tires have full tread and hold air. Has 12 bolt posi from factory.
Other than the minor cosmetic damage the front driver side fender and grill and behind both rear wheels, the van is unbelievably straight. not visible damage from underneath, not rust in floors from inside or underneath ( removed rubber mats under rear seat and no rust at all there either)
Reserve is set at a very reasonable price. bid to win.
I do have a ZZ3 engine and 700R4 transmission that would be amazing in the van I will consider selling to the winning bidder/buyer and can load and secure in van if you are having it shipped. Truck starts, runs and drives, I just have not driven enough to give opinion if it would make a very long trip home. I would not hesitate to drive semi local. ( it is located in Southern California in San Fernando Valley)
I looked a long time for a shorty surf van boogie van econoline mystery van, and this was the coolest and cleanest one I could find. Unfortunately I had found a SB C10 first My wife unfortunately did not share the enthusiasm for another project ( I am finishing up a 1975 Short Bed Cheyenne pick up and just finished going through everything, engine, trans, AC etc and hate to let that one go before finishing, I am so close) I thought this van would match nicely with it, but... I bought the ZZ3 and 700r4 for the C10, but I ended rebuilding the motor in it since it was numbers matching.
