This 1956 Chevrolet 3100 Big Window pickup is one of those builds where you can see the attention to detail throughout. Not merely assembled, but rather built with an eye towards making even the little stuff look right, it's gorgeous to look at and wonderful to drive. Fuel-injected 350 V8 power combined with a great color and interior choice, makes this a slick hauler that can take home trophies or cruise cross-country equally well. This truck goes... way beyond simple hauler, and even back in the '50s, Chevy revolutionized the industry with the crazy idea that workmen wanted attractive vehicles, too. So while a lot of them got worked right into the ground, this handsome pickup received a full rejuvenation that includes a few skillfully shaved bits and a lot of hand work to make it smooth and shiny. Fit and finish are quite good overall, and the slick orange paint was done a few years ago and is still in good shape with only minor signs of use. A chrome grille and smooth one-piece bumper were fitted up front, and who can argue with how cool it looks? The big back window gives the truck a fish-bowl view of everyone that will be gawking at you driving by, and the bed is neatly finished with painted wood, polished stainless rub rails, and a spray-in bedliner on the inner walls, adding a bit of durability should you ever want to haul something other than a car show lounger back there. Add in smooth 1-piece bumpers fore and aft, cool side trim on the fenders, and a wicked stance atop those oversized rims, and you have a truck that creates a stir everywhere it goes. With the original truck sporting vinyl and rubber and steel interior materials, the makeover gives it a much softer, friendlier demeanor. A reshaped and very comfortable bench seat has been wrapped in custom foam and smooth cream beige upholstery, which uses a period pleated pattern to closely replicate a 1950s vibe. Custom plush carpets look great and help control noise and heat and the door panels are properly finished with body-colored paint and bright door and window handles. The dashboard, even when it was stock, was striking in a pickup truck and has now been painted to match the exterior, with the original gauge bezel still in place, augmented with a trio of auxiliary units to the left of the steering wheel, and a classic AM/FM radio centered in the dash. You'll also note custom tricks like the upholstered headliner up top, aftermarket speakers in the kick panels, and a Grant GT steering wheel atop an aftermarket tilt column. A/C is very cleverly installed under the dash, with neatly integrated vents so they don't attract a lot of attention. It's not perfect inside, but as you can see, not many details were left to chance. The engine is a powerful 350 cubic inch V8, with plenty of pop to move all that '50s sheetmetal with ease in and out of the corners. Additions include a Holley Sniper fuel injection up top, long-tube headers, and, of course, those brightly chromed valve covers and air cleaner. There's a big aluminum radiator up front to keep things cool and the accessories are tucked in close to the block and spun by a serpentine belt setup. Backed by a 2004R 3-speed automatic transmission and a 10-bolt rear end out back, it's a superlative highway cruiser that's still punchy around town. Up front there's a giant sway bar and power front disc brakes, plus power steering and a custom dual exhaust system with throaty mufflers sounds suitably performance-oriented. The rear is headlined by a 4-link set-up and QA1 adjustable coilovers, and the stance is just about perfect, with a lot of the credit going to the killer 18" and 20" US Mag wheels and staggered 245/40/18 front and 235/45/20 rear performance radials. A gorgeous truck with a killer look, this beautifully built Chevy 3100 Big Window delivers in every sense of the word. Call today!
