Up for auction AT NO RESERVE is my 2 Owner, 70,000 original mile, 1984 Chevrolet Scottsdale K10. This original K10 spent most of its life in Colorado before making its way to the high desert of California and is in very nice original shape and ready for cruise night, Saturday coffee or service at the vacation home.
I recently purchased this K10 from the grandson of the original owner. He shared with me that his grandfather had purchased the truck new in 1984 from a dealer in the Fort Collins area. His grandfather wanted a nice little 4x4 around the house that he could use to venture into the Rocky Mountains and for weekend chores.
It didn't take long until he found exactly what he wanted. For the next 30 plus years the grandfather used the truck for weekend sightseeing trips into the Rockies. According to the grandson this truck was his grandfather's baby and was pampered from the day he purchased it
In 2016 the truck was passed on to the grandson in Springville, California. The grandfather was adamant the truck be shipped to California rather than driven to keep the miles down!
In early 2018 I had the opportunity to purchase the truck from the grandson. He was a freshman in College and the truck just did not fit his style, he had elected for a Mercedes-Benz instead. I made a short drive to Springville from Bakersfield took one look at the truck and had to have it.
Ironically, shortly after purchasing the truck I relocated to...... Fort Collins, Colorado! Unfortunately, I am having to scale down my collection and the K10 is one of 10 vehicles that I will be selling. If you are in the market for an original, unmolested 1984 Chevrolet Scottsdale K10 look no further!
The interior on this rig is clean, original and well sorted. With the exception of a wear area in the rubber floor mat at the gas pedal the interior is perfect yet very basic (the Scottsdale package came with a rubber floormat, no headliner, standard door panels etc). The dash is perfect, the door panels are perfect as are the steering wheel and seat. There are 8 small mounting holes (on the interior of the cab) where grab bars were installed above and behind passenger's door as well as 4 holes above and below the back window where a gun rack was mounted. I would give the interior an 8 out of 10.
As for the body, paint and trim, very nice driver quality. I had everything except the top of the cab repainted due to the infamous paint peal this vintage of Chevrolets were known for. When the truck was repainted two very small areas that were starting to bubble were repaired. One was right above the tailpipe behind the drivers rear wheel and the other was behind the driver's door in the lower portion of the cab corner. Both were very minor but in the spirit of full disclosure the information needed to be shared. The repaint looks very nice from 10' but upon close inspection you will notice a good wet sand and polish would do it wonders. Doors close nicely, the body lines are straight and there are no dings, bumps, bruises or scratches. A professionally installed, color matched bedliner was also installed when the truck was repainted as was a custom rear step bumper.
This K10 is light on options. AM/FM, dual tanks and cloth seat. None of the bells and whistles that become problematic on vehicles of this age. I did add aftermarket cruise to the truck. Everything works on the truck including all Instrumentation and lights (blinkers are a little slow periodically, it may be time for a different flasher).
Mechanically, the truck is solid and really a joy to drive! No major drips, slobbers or awful noises. The transmission shifts smoothly, 4x4 works properly and dropping into 4 low is no problem. The 305 runs great with no noises, misses or annoying hesitations. Recent work includes the installation of Warn hubs, carb rebuild and new (nice) exhaust. Tires are new and are ready to go. Earlier this year I drove the truck from Bakersfield, California to Fort Collins, Colorado (1,200 miles) with no issues at all and NO oil consumption. As a bonus, the truck passed California emissions inspections last year. And last the rally wheels were recently removed, sandblasted and professionally powder coated.
You would be hard pressed to find another 1984 K10 in as good of condition and as honest a rig as this truck is. They are only original once!
If you are in search of that ultimate weekend rig for those adventures to the mountains, desert, beach or back country roads or just something fun to drive the Saturday coffee this K10 may be the one for you!
